I got all done with the re route, but for the life of me I cannot find a place for the can. Is it me or should I buy a different catch can...

I'm not saying yours won't work but I think you'd be better served if you reversed the order of your can/filter. You're essentially using gravity to draw the excess fluids down to the catch can. The filter provides a pressure release to help facilitate that fluid movement.

So in theory, you should probably have that catch can at the end of the tube.

In doing so, you can run it down behind the cooler. Here's a couple pics of my set up.

Not saying mine is right and yours is wrong, but I think it sets up better this way.

I don't think Erik Buell would intend for someone to over charge a man $60 for a can simply because it displays an infringed logo. Furthermore, I prefer a clear can so you can see what's in it. As for it being ugly, it sits behind the cooler And the tubing is covered by a the left side scoop so it's really not noticable unless at the angle the picture was taken and while the scoop was removed for installation. But thanks for the input!

I had a catch-can similar to yours netty & it leaked like hell. Found this one, similar to the one dingo suggested but way more affordable.

Just need to go to your local hardware store to find the proper fittings. It also mounts perfect, http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/12452_20120516124148_L.jpg

It looks good oh7bolt! I dont figure it would last forever being that it was just a couple bucks. It's actually a small fuel filter, I just took out the filter and thread locked the bolt I put in the bottom. So far so good! I don't get much fluid in the can itself, mine is more for the cleaner air.

I was close to mounting mine to that bar as well, but as dingo said, they aren't the prettiest little cans so I hid it! ;)

Thanks! I definitely feel where you're coming from with the over priced $60 catchcan, gotta save $$ anyway ya can. Personally I don't mind the look of your can and as long as its functional who cares right? :D

You don't even need a "can", just plug it with a bolt and drain it every so often.

07bolt SOvitt, I also ordered a can from bmikarts a little over a week ago - looks like a quality part at a great price - but I went with the black anodized finish for a couple bucks more instead of the unfinished can. They called me the next day and said the black was back ordered but they were expecting them in soon. Question: with it mounted horizontally like that, how do the captured fluids drain out when you open the drain valve?

Mine is set up similar to that, here is how I did it https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-S5efT3b9NSs/T8gnp8QG3jI/AAAAAAAAC1Y/rw5keIU-fbM/s679/2012-05-31_14-59-41_311.jpg

vtech007- Its hard to tell but the can is at a slight angle mounted there on the bar. So far there hasn't been enough fluid buildup in my can to drain it, but I figure once its full enough it should drain right out. If not tho, its pretty easy to just take right off & empty. Definitely post pics of the anodized black once you get it!

No offense to anyone, but 99 out of 100 of these that I've seen on here look horrible. JMO, I guess.

I can't say too much, as I currently have a similar setup to most everyone here, but I am going to redo it. I hate how it looks, I think it makes my bike look like a honda civic si special edition spec v type R....

Ok for those nay sayers, depends where you live on how much water you will get, I live in Oregon and I get a quite a bit in like an hour ride.

Have anyone else tryed the "simpliest breather mod", Where you just add 90deg turn to the existing breathers on the airbox, and ~5cm extensions so that they reach under the rubber intake tube.

Did this my self, and so long my airbox has been oilfree. And there aint nothing visual that indicates something has been changed.

FWIW, I'm not a "nay sayer", this is a good mod, but most of them just look cheesy and tacky.

Hmmm... I don't think any of them look half bad. Of course, I'm from the old school where we used to run hardware store clear hose out the back on our race bikes... These fancy glass catch cans look very nifty to me. I guess I have another project for this weekend. [up]

P.S.: Luc, on the other hand, that fork reflector needs to "fall off." ;)
