A while back I posted about my springless after-market foot pegs that kept folding up every time I took off for a ride. I finally replaced them with 1" dropped Buell pegs. The "original" pair were drop-downs too, but I still think I wouldn't have liked them even if they had springs. Hopefully this might help someone. First off, I'm kinda a dumb-dumb when it comes to simple tasks, but really, there where no directions on how to install the springs. FYI, I got the foot pegs and springs from American Sport Bike - great company.

This is what was on the bike when I bought it:

I used the big pair of pliers to keep the spring in place and held the foot peg in place with one hand. I jammed the needle-nose pliers (closed) next to the spring as show (to keep the spring centered). Then I worked the pin down with my other hand. You have to look from the bottom to make sure the pin is lined up correctly (this was not easy but just be patient). When everything was lined up and the pin was almost completely in place, I LIGHTLY tapped the top of the pin with a hammer and it went right into place. As you can see, I wrapped the big pliers with a piece of nitrile glove (I use them when I do dirty work... easy clean up) and also wrapped the side of the bike to prevent scratching. The correct orientation of the spring - at least what worked for me is the spring "opening" toward you as you look at it from the back of the bike. The big "tab" is on the top and closer to the bike; the small "tab" is on the bottom and further from the bike. The springs are mirror images of each other. This was the only orientation that was possible, so I think I'm right. The first foot peg and spring took almost an hour to install. The second one took 10 minutes - LOL!

Also, FYI... the second picture is on the opposite side of the first two. I Don't know why I didn't take all three on the same side. [confused]

Did you install that pulley cover?

No, it was on it. Actually in that pic, the clear plastic was off. I made another post about replacing the plastic - which I plan on doing. It's kinda cool - I like it.
