Yep, it's blown, figured out how to get it out finally, anyone ever heard of and extra one being stored on the bike somewhere?

they are super cheap at auto zone, i havent heard or seen any stored on the bike...

it took me a while to get mine out to when i had almost the same problem (voltage regulator and all)

if you mean the 30 fuse connected to the harness under the seat, they're like 4 or 5 bucks at autozone, no spares are carried in an extra slot on the bike.

I keep spares in my "toolbag" under the rear seat.

It keeps blowing, how do I install it without blowing it? Everytime I go to screw in the lead it arcs and blows it.... Am I just retarded or something? I've literally gone through 4 now...

I have a trickle charger leads on, but that shouldnt matter at all.?

If it's blowing, you have a short to ground somewhere. You need to find it or it will just keep doing it.

To install it I would leave the negative cable on, put the fuse in, then put the positive cable on correct? Talk about a freaking headache...

What? No.

Remove: negative first, then positive.

Install: positive first, then negative.

Don't think that is really the problem but try it the right way.

Fuse would be in the whole time correct? Before both cables are installed?

Shouldn't make a difference. I've never touched the fuses. Battery has been disconnected many times without a fuse problem.

That is why I don't think that's the problem but doing it right is a good thing.

I bet he shorted some thing while doing the VR.

To the OP... look over the whole job and be sure you did things correctly. A fuse that continues to blow is a short to ground, Its like you are taking the positive cable and touching it to the frame somewhere.

The positive and negative cable to the VR were touching, thus causing the short. they send you a new connector and it's pretty ****ty,has anyone had to install one?

Finally fixed....
was either A) they were shorting out in the housing, or b i accidentally swtiched which wires go where...

HAHA ****! So I switched the wires, bolted everything back on about to start it up, and I flip the switch, no whining noise at all, and when I hit the yellow start button nothing. nothing happens at all, the needles sweep though, all fuses look good?

I pulled out the ignition relay, put it back in flipped the switch, then everything worked okay. haha who knows? maybe change the relays for good measure?

Switch relays around?

nikfleisch

No relays are all in the stock spots haha does this make any sense at all?

Would have been a bad contact if it started working after a removal/refit.

Posted relay stuff about the same time, hadn't seen your post.

Yes, new relays could do it. Cheapest fix possible.
