I'm looking at getting a firebolt pretty soon. My question is how does the 9 perform on the highway? I also ride a sportster 1200 right now and was wondering how different the power if anyone can attest to that. I will mainly use the bike around town but ill be taking it to school ( about 150 miles). It also seems like the 9 would be a little easier on the wallet. Thanks everyone!

I reciently bought an 03 xb9r with 9,000 miles for 3,500 and absolutly love it. i do mostly city driving and its great. light and corners well but still quite powerful. will lift the front end just from the throttle. and as for the highway it does just fine. at about 70 mph your sitting at about 3,800 rpms but these bikes will run at 4k+ days on end with no problem. i love the bike more than my 1200 sporster. there is not that big of a difference in power but nothing that a future big bore kit cant handle ;)

It's fine, just rpm's are a little higher is all. If I cruise at 75+ the fan comes on(too hot).

I love my 03 firebolt over my 01 sportster 883 that I previously owned. More power there when needed and the riding position isn't too bad. I have owned everything from big cruisers to full on sport bike and the firebolt is one of the more comfortable ones. You cant go wrong with it. If you are worried about comfort you may want to look at the lightening. it has a more of a sit up style riding position, but the bolt isn't bad.[cool]

I have an 03 9s and it's got plenty of power. I'm pushing 250lbs and have no problems at all.... takes off fast and I flirt with triple digits almost everyday.

i love my 9, such a fun bike, i use mine for mostly back road corners, but it is ok on the high way, as comfortable as a sport bike can be on the high way....

Yeah they are very comfortable for a sport bike. I can ride my firebolt all day with minimal discomfort. I rode my brother's sporty last year to the dragon and back to his place, 2 days of riding, and I was dying after about 2 hours. I still can't believe I lasted the whole trip...
