Looking to beef up the bolt. Need advice

I'm in the market to finally start beefing up my bike. More hp more tq. Just looking to see what the first few things I should start getting to make this happen. I've got an 09 xb12r with kn air filter and jardine exhaust. I heard that I can get sprockets, a new primary chain set up etc etc...
The help is much appreciated!

Dyno-tune (if you haven't already done so), Xb9 pistons, and maybe a different exhaust ( :p ).
