2006 ulysses fan has come on only once on a 60deg day never since,e checked fan it spins with 12v, running mobil 1 syn oil, no fan ever even on 90+deg days no check engine lights or any negative running issues, will fan only operate after prolonged no airflow periods.if airflow is constant without stop and go will the fan stay off. my 1st buell just thought fan would come on more often anything i could check or im i just suffering from nuelly buelly fever

If you have the comfort kit (right side scoop) it wont come on very much. I put it on my bike and i have had high 90's days driving home from work where it used to come on and now it almost never does. Kind of freaked me out the first time it happened.

Same for me with the comfort kit,my fan hardly ever kicks on except on really hot days, then only when it is in the 90's,those right side scoops are one of the best investments you can make.:)

Thats's odd on my 2010 xb12s i can hear the fan everytime i come up to a stop then after idling for a minute it will shut off. i've been riding in 60-90 degree weather.

if you have the EBR brain it runs above 15 mph, I wished it would do the cool down run after I kill the ignition

102 yesterday here in Tulsa,OK. I was fortunate enough to not have any stops/traffic jams riding home. The fan came on only after I shut the bike off. It ran for approx 60secs. I've had the bike 5 years and 35,000 miles.

That being said, I ride about like you do. When I am commuting I rarely go over 70mph.

2005 xb12 I have both scoops and headers wrapped [up]

The service manual for my 07 says the fan will come on at 428 degrees and go off at 356 degrees with the key on. with the key off the fan will operate at 338 degrees and go off at 302 degrees. Yes i did dictate that correctly.

428...dang i never thought these bikes ran that hot. I just assumed my buell ran cloe to the same temp as my dads harley

Ya I think it must be reading cylinder temperature because I'm pretty sure that oil breaks down quickly at above 300. either that or its a typo in the manual

So the fan is controlled by the ECM? If so, can its on/off temps be modified with ECMspy?

I think you can but not with basic program you have to purchase the full program from ecmspy
