View Full Version : 01 Blast Won't Start

I just bought this bike, it started before but now it will not. It has 971 miles but possibly the trans is messed up.

The night before I bought it fired up but with real bad clattering problems when it was turning over, last night I had trouble getting it into nuetral but now it literally does nothing when I push the start button. Please help!

OOWW, don't know much about Blasts, but hope you got a "REAL" good price for it, can you manually turn the engine over, put it in 2nd gear and "pretend", to push start it, I'm scared it may have "locked up", from the knock/clattering, either in the tranny or the engine

@uly luigi-When it ran it sounded really good, no smoke, ticking or anything but it has a really loud exhaust so it might have drowned it out.

@wally-I'm still getting used to it here, I noticed you can't quote someone like on the other one. As for running, I hope to have a Blast on my Blast, soon.

@Daali- Thanks brother.:)

You'll get the hang of it soon enough! ;)

That could be a multitude of things, including a blown motor. Check compression and rule out engine problems and then proceed from there.

Dun dun dun, took the clutch cover off of the primary and found.....SHAVINGS! and PIECES! and a broken CABLE CABLE!!!!

Cool, so where does that leave you - only transmission problems to sort out or not sure yet?

Not sure yet Wally, it's going to a shop in the next week or so. Hopefully they can figure it out without too much expense. lol yeah right.

I'm gonna sell it for $400 complete, I'm in Memphis if anyone is interested.

Did you figure out the issues?

On the start issue it could very well be just the battery.

On the trans issue, follow my guide step by step. Only costs a few hours of your time, and a few dollars with the detent plate and clip.

Funny ass thing, I posted a ad and people were offering cash left and right within 5 minutes. I go out to the garage and start moving it and the transmission is rotating with no issues. The chain is off of it so there is no more binding, the engine rotates too, sounds like it has compression.

So I think the issue could be just on the primary side. I know it will need a Clutch Cable, Clutch, Cable O Ring, Clutch, Primary Cover, Primary Gasket and a Primary Tensioner.
