Im getting bored and thinking of swapping out my Drummer SS for somthing else. Its been painted Semi gloss High temp ceramic black and still has the Plolished end caps. The pipe has been repacked in a way that it should NEVER need a repack job.

Packing consist of DEI 2in Ti header wrap around the inner core heald in place with at least 20ft of Stainless saftey wire. It was then wrapped with FMF 4 stroke packing to hold the core in place.

How much are you trying to get for it?

not sure.... I traded a undented/scratched race pipe plus $100 for it.
Damn work internet is blocking my Photo bucket access so pics will take a bit to get.....

Ok ....well there seems to be traffic but only a couple of interested parties.

New these are $650 and permanently sealed so repacking if needed is impossible without paying Kevin to do it ( which requires shipping and downtime). This is the older version that is repackable. Not that it should ever need it again......
If someone is interested make an offer and let's see where it goes....... The worst I could say is no..... Lol.

The pipe I'm interested in possibly getting is a Spec Ops dual outlet. My reason for looking at diff mufflers is I get bored and wanna change **** way too often. So other than my inability to stop messing with crap there is no god reason behind my actions.

The person that makes me a good enough offer will get this also....
http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o196/freak2180/0eada4bc.jpg

I'm interested in a clear or translucent cover so I can light it up from behind.

So if ur interested make me do this before I change my mind........

Ok well a couple of offers.

Epgreen.........sorry but a stock muffler will never touch my bike again in my life time. Your offer is good for somthing along the lines of a VooDoo or Spec Ops but a lil low for a Drummer SS.

Fordhotline....... If you had a VooDoo front exit or spec ops to go with the cash I would be Pm'ing you right now.

In my book I think it's worth at least $450 cash or $250 + a good after market muffler.
No Jardine's, Hawk's, or Hack jobs.
I don't have to get rid of this pipe as its perfectly fine. I just get bored and do in neccesary things some times.

I really don't think you will be happy with a different exhaust, why don't you buy the one you want before you sell the drummer, just to make sure it's what you really want? Just my 2 cents!

Nope..... Drummer SS and a uni filter on stock map. The originally SS that I have was designed to run on a stock map just fine. A tune may wake her up a lil but as is she's fine with very little to no decel pop

Hit up dave he has a guy that was going to make some exhausts including a front exit if the customer wanted.

Walls if you looked at the pics above you will see berry little on it. I stopped there because I had other things to do that day. Other than the bottom being chipped the pipe is in excellent shape by most people standards. I have a direction I'm heading with the look of the bike and the SS just dosent quite fit the look right now. I'm aiming for a industrial/mechanical look. The front exit voodoo fits that theme a lil better.

Just curious why no one really seems interested in this muffler. is it because of the chipped paint? Or is it somthing else? Fill me in guys. Im down for stripping the paint (even if it dont sell/trade), but Im not sure of the condition of the stainless shell. It had quite a bit of blueing and will deff need a polish.

My biggest question is why so few are interested in Drummer nowdays.....Has the fad passed....lol.

My only complaint is that mine is LOUD....lol Has that cammed out V8 sound. If I forget my ear plugs I can forget about hearing anything for a day. Its prob because of the way I packed it. If the current deal dosnt happen soon Im backing out and keeping it......even though a race pipe would be a good compromise for my situation....... Both me and the neighborhood Im in right now....lol.

Close up of the DEI Ti Header Wrap around the core.

That right there just turned it into a straight pipe. Sure, the packing will last forever that way, but I'd bet it made it louder than it should be.

freak2180
08-11-2012, 09:52 PM
It did increase the sound a tad, but not much. Just gave it a deeper thump. The core used in the Drummer are too large and after time causes the packing to pull through and blow out. I personaly was tired of repacking it and refused to pay Kevin to do it when all I needed was the materials hes using in his new pipes. Bristol Core....His suplier refused to sell me any of the products sold to KDFAB unless it was in bulk......even though ther web page clearly stated that custom orders were capable of being made. This was my solution and the only side effect was a small increase in deeper tones. Performance actually felt better than ever due to the internal volume of the pipe being restored to its designed specs. If I can find someone to make me a inner core with smaller perforations in it I will go back to just Packing , but till then ....this is it. The older Drummers cores have very large perforations and lead to packing blowing out.....he may have fixed this in newer models, but in the older design it just plain sucks. Im sure I have just kicked myself in the ass with this post, but I would rather everyone know why it was done rather it apear as a unthought out hack job in an attempt at saving money. At the time I was quoted $80 for the pack job PLUS shipping both ways.........current pack job cost me $45 and no shipping. Again no performance was sacraficed by doing this.....just gained a lil more of that look at me thump. I would prefer a Muffler thats a lil quieter, but I wont sacrafice another pack job for a 1-2 DB drop at cruising speed.

I know the new style muffler like I have is packed with a different material and caries a lifetime warranty. I love how loud my pipe is. You can hear me coming. And it's not annoying like the jardine pipe is.

freak2180
08-11-2012, 10:23 PM
I know know he changed his packing materials due to my exact complaint about blow out issues. Its just Bristol Cores stainless matting wrapped around the core then a high temp fiberglass matting. Im glad hes warrentying his new pipes for life.......I just wish he would do the same for his older design. Its not really fair to 1st gen owners that his materials wouldnt hold up. I know the new design is fully welded and it was done to reduce build cost and time considerably, but yet his price has stayed the same or gone up. Ive talked with Kevin in depth about his mufflers and Know why he has done the things he has as far as manufacturing. Its just a shame that in all hes claims to be saving with his new design that the savings arnt passed along to the consumer.

IMHO the price of admission to get a Drummer is ridiculous for something that's going to need re-pack eventually. What's the advantage over a Jardine which is less money but has to be re-packed also? Give me zero maintenance like a D&D or Hawk any day.

I do agree. Its a great sounding pipe and Ive hade no tuneing issues, Im just ready for a change. At this rate I doubt it will Happen though. If I dont hear back from the Person Im dealing with by Monday I will just strip the paint and either repaint or try and polish it again.

DRUMMER FEELER PART 2.......

First deal fell through for now and I got restless looking at the chipping ceramic paint.

I have since rid the pipe of paint and its back down to a machined stainless look.

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o196/freak2180/5bb62249.jpg

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o196/freak2180/025f50c2.jpg

Its still up for grabs, but I want some opinions as to what I should do with the finish.

1. Clear it the way it is
2. Paint high temp aluminum
3. paint high temp silver
4. paint black Chrome (Duplicolor Product)

Any other ideas guys just toss them out.....

freak2180
08-13-2012, 05:27 AM
Lol. I will keep it before I go through that hassle. I'm pretty much done with trying to get rid of it. Just trying to decide on what I want to do with the finish on it.

Make it shine like I did with mine. Everyone always ask me what kind of exhaust it is especially after they hear it. As you can tell I like showing mine off that's why I don't run a chin fairing. Get the mothers billet polish out and go to town. This is what you need. http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/9209_20120211072644_L.jpg

Im not sure how I feel about polished......thats why I painted in the 1st place. There is nothing Shiny on my bike and it would stick out like a sore thumb.

I would be more inclined to leave it machined/brushed to match the forks insted of polishing it.

This is the kit

I can actually reach down and touch my muffler after or durring a ride because its not so hot it will burn you. I think that may be the header wrap working.......
