Check engine light on 99 x1.

I have a 99 x1 and the check engine light turns on and the bike runs like crap. Then after a few seconds it turns off and the bike runs good. Then a few min later light and crap again, so on and so on. I know it could be so many things i wont ask for suggestions (yet). i would like to know which two pins you jump to get the code. I know its 1 and 2 but there r 4 pins in the harness and i dont want to do the wrong ones. Also do they even offer a somthing to read the code (or jumps the pins for you) like the old obds? i know about emsspy but dont have the time or money to order the cable and learn to use the program. I want to ride the bike. :(

I would order cable and disk 42$ and download spy program I'm one of the worst people when it comes to computers. But i figured it out in less than an hour and made my bike run awesome the way it should run. And some of the things you can do with it are incredible. My bike is a 99 x1 also love it.null
