2007 XB12scg D&D exhaust installation problem

I just purchased the D&D slip-on for my 07 XB12scg and cannot for the life of me get the rear bracket and collar in place.

I'm not sure where I've gone wrong? Everything went smoothly lining up after mounting it to the engine bolt etc. until I tried to get the rear in place...

Anyone have any insight or pictures to show that section where the aluminum bracket and collar installs?

ive never installed a D &D....can you post pics of the problematic area?

I can't seem to get the 5 star collar around the aluminum bracket and in place. I need a visual from underneath the bike to see how the OEM bracket sets and how the collar is attached.
