You guys at BuellXB have been great to me as an AMSOIL dealer, and I certainly like to respond in kind.

My old thread is quite cluttered with bumps, etc., therefore, I am making a new thread for 2013.

Price for AMSOIL 20w50 is below. This is as low as I can get it, right at my costs.

If you need a specific quote or want pricing for anything else AMSOIL offers, feel free to PM me, and I will get you taken care of.

AMSOIL 20w50L
By the Quart:
Retail - $11.90
My Price - $9.50

By the Case (12x Quarts):
Retail - $141.35
My Price - $111.00

Tax and shipping are not included (either in the retail price or my price) and are dependent on exact address. Shipping on a case of 12 quarts is usually right around $12.00 Let me know what I can do for you!

Order 4 quarts of 20-50...You'll need 1 for the primary and 3.5 for the swing-arm (the other .5 quart can be used if you need to top off the oil or for the next change). Aluminum foil is your friend...wrap your muffler in it near the drain plugs and let the oil drip over it and into the pan beneath it. Man I wish I would have known that the first time I changed my oil!! Got oil everywhere! [mad]

Also...Rep point for noone1569! Easy to work with and fast service! If he would just come to my house and do the oil change too! :p

So order 5 quarts? Or just use 1 in the tranny and 2.5 in the swingarm

Yeah, I understand. I don't make any money on the oil I sell here as I sell at less than $1.00 above cost and actual shipping and tax. AMSOIL does pay a tiny bit of commission, like $20 per 1000$ sold. I sell here to the Buell family so they can use the best at the best price they can get.

If anyone needs to get me quicker than I can get here, please email me at noone1569 @gmail or shoot me at ext at 317.348.four eight seven four. Thanks for everything, buellers!

AMSOIL drop ships from warehouse located all over the place. I've done lots of orders to Canada at suprisingly low prices since there is a warehouse located in Edmonton. This keeps shipping pretty low for such a heavy objects.

So after talking with the folks at EBR during the AIMExpo, I am switching over to AMSOIL Dominator 15w50 going forward. They said it performs a bit better in the high heat that our motors create, and they use it in the race bikes.

http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/motor-oil/racing/dominator-15w-50-racing-oil/?code=RD50QT-EA

Pricing for this is:

1x Quart: $10.25
Case of 12: $115.00

This stuff isn't motorcycle specific, is it?

Also, it would be only for the engine, or is also fine in the primary?

It is not motorcycle specific, that is correct, but its based on the same formula as the 20w50 motorcycle oil. However, it is engineered to be better at higher rpms, temperatures and shockloads which seems to work, from all accounts, a bit nicer in the primary and engine than the 20w50, which is excellent.

Speaking with the guys at EBR, they swapped to the Dominator from the 20w50, and like it much better as it is more consistent when pushed harder. It is a bit more viscous at all temperatures and shows a bit less wear on the four ball wear test.

AMSOIL INC. only recommends using 20w-50(MCVQT) for your 2009 Buell Lightning XB12. We don’t recommend using Dominator 15W-50 for this bike, only for Buell 1190 RX. If you have any questions please call technical services at 715-399-8324.

GregoXB, Thank you for posting that. In my many years of using, selling and dealing with AMSOIL, I have found that they always stick what ever oil is directly recommended by the manufacturer of the machine. This is true on every instance I have contacted them. I'm not sure about you, but there have been many vehicles that I use oil different than the factory recommendation in. Specifically, in both my turbo and supercharged cars, the factory recommendation is 10w30 and 5w30 respectively, but I have found that Eurocar full SAPS 5w40 performs best in the turbo car and the supercharged car seems like like the AMSOIL 0w30 a bit more.

AMSOIL obviously sticks to the factory recommendations for liability issues, and I will never try to push someone away from an oil they are comfortable with to try something they are uncomfortable with. I merely have found in my experience, differing from the factory recommendations can be to your advantage.

There is certainly nothing wrong with the Vtwin 20w50 that is favored by buellers everywhere. I've used this oil for ~4 years without issue as have many, many friends of mine.
