I have the "low" seat for my 2008 XT. For me the only thing that changed was I'm now sitting lower in the bike and not on top of it. My feet to the ground are no different between the two seats; which tells me the low seat is not narrower compared to the stock seat on the XT. But that's me, I've read others claim to have gotten closer to the ground with the low seat.

Also, the seat covering on the low seat is slicker. I slide alot more on it than the stock seat. I will changing the cover soon.

I bought the low sit some few miles ago. My feet does not reach the ground better v/s the original one. It is a little bit slicker too. But, with the new one, you have only one position on it, which allowds you to ride the bike better. Ah..and it is a little harder than the original.

I got the Buell low seat fro my '07 and it made a noticeable difference. I like it much better.

Okay I'm confused. The low seat the way I understand it,is lower than the stock '06 seat. But it is the stock height of newer models. Clear me up on this please!

I'm not so sure that I want a lower seat, But I sure am looking for more comfort! I dunno about you, but my ass is sore way too soon for my liking! Maybe corbin's got something for us now. I think I'll go have a look....

I noticed the seat of my 08 xt has 5 part numbers underneath in the following order:
N0025.1AKFYW
N0025.1AKAYCE
N0025.1AKAYW
N0025.2AKYW (mine)
N0025.2AKYCE

I suspect that YCE is the yellow and black. What are the other part numbers? This seat is a pain in the rear (literally) on long trips. I get leg cramps because I'm 6'2 with a 34" inseam.
What is the 06 stock part number?

I had a post about the same thing (sore butt). I say that the low seat isn't any lower then the 07 on up. It does have the gel in it. I have the 07 and my butt is sore too. I tried one of those sheep skin gels from a place near by. But the gel was way to stiff and I think it was worse, so I took it back and they refunded my money. Corbin does make a seat for the bike and I asked one guy that was selling his Buell on Ebay how he like the seat and he said he loved the seat???. I've been thinking about taking my seat apart and cutting some of the foam out were it really hits and shape it up more too. My girl friend when she is on the back hits her right in the edge of the seat. So I thought that I would cut some out of there too. I see the 2010 has a exhaust heat sheild and a bigger air intake on the right side too. I like the bike, great mileage and nice power. I have just about 18,000 miles on mine

I believe N0025.1xxx numbers are the first generation (tall) seats. The N0025.2xxx numbers are the lower 2007 up units. I have both, and if you got the legs, the tall seats are excellent.

I've got the stock 2006 seat. Its not my butt that hurts so much, just the bottom of my legs. where the seat has the seam there is a big lip and that doesn't feel good after about 100 miles. I'm going to a furniture refinishing shop to look into smoothing out those edges...

Buell's homepage now shows the tall seat as an accessory. I just ordered one from Chicago Harley for $88. Can't stand the leg cramps on the XT anymore.

Just got an email from Chicago Harley regarding the tall black seat listed on Buell.com's website:

N0025.1AKAYW - obsolete and replaced with
N0025.1AKFYW - tall black
N0025.1AKAYCE - tall black/orange
N0025.2AKYW - low black
N0025.2AKYCE - low black/orange
