View Full Version : Licence Plate Relocate...

All you have to buy is a lay-down licence plate bracket for a Softail/Dyna, its like $40, and mount it to the under-tail of a Firebolt with the supplied machine screws and some fender washer so it doesn't pull through the plastic. Turn the plate mount upside down from how it would usually be on the Dyna and center it on the tail the way you would want it. Drill holes through the under tail (make sure you know where you are drilling, not to hit wires or anything) run the bolts through and there ya go. Its a little nicer looking than just plastering your plate to the under-tail, it looks like you actually tried. any questions just let me know.....

Sounds like a sweet mod, but I think I'd need to see a picture of the Dyna or Softail or modded buell to understand exactly what you're talking about. [smirk]

You can see the relocate on this bike thats featured in this Jardine pic. Look under the tail, thats the layback I was talking about...

This is the layback plate mounted on a Dyna so it gives you a good idea of how it goes on. Any other questions let me know.

Ebay = you get what you pay for...

I rest my case....

You can buy a fender eliminator pretty cheap. You can also make your own by cutting the eccess fender off your buell, and using the parts to mount the plate at the desired location. Is not hard, just takes a little bit of creativity.

Yes, you do get what you pay for and I think $14 for a small piece of metal is worth the money verses $40 for something from the stealer!

Plus its better than the Storz Licence plate mount that is just a piece of cut/bent aluminum for $60, and it still mounts in the stock location....

I would also like to see a pic of how to mount that. It sounds like the way to go.

Look at the other post on this. The undertail licence plate relocate post. It looks better than turning the bracket around. ;)

Its just preference but I like the fact that I can use the factory bolt holes and I don't think the crome would look good on mine.

Does the license plate light show on your plate being that far back? Cops here will stop you if not. I got the ticket to prove it. Lol

I just wired in three small LED's above it mounted in the undertail panel to illuminate it. I never got hassled before I put the lights in though.

P/N - 13199 from a company called Custom Chrome (CCI)

There is one that is a little nicer for about $10 more. Its just a pyramid design on the back of it.

You local Harley dealer can get it for you for about $40 bucks. This kit is an aftermarket version of the Harley layback kit, but it works a little nicer. Its a smaller frame and it comes with all the nice stainless hardware, unlike the Harley one and its cheaper. If you have any other questions get a hold of me.

Heres a link to the post with my kit on my bike.

yea how bout you just get it and ill pay you, ill take the one with out the pyramid design... whenever you can get around to it. Take your time im in no hurry, ive got alot going on right now and i dont have time to put that on, ive got alot of other mods that need to go on the bike before that needs to get done... so let me know how you want to go about this...

I have one here in stock. the easiest way is just to do it through paypal for me. Just let me know what your address is so I can get the shipping figured out and we will go from there. The pyramid design is about $10 more but it looks that much nicer.

That's a lot of work to do. Does anyone done this before? If so, please upload some pics so we get some idea how it will look like afterwards.
