Hey all,

I'm new here. Prev owned a 1995 Ninja 250R but sold that to a friend about a year or two ago. Haven't had a bike since (other then my yz400f). I am looking to sell/trade my BMW to get a bike and I found a nice trade that I would be happy if it worked out. Here is a link let me know what you think.

Well I just read on an other board about a guy that bought a 06 xb for 3500, yes it was a super deal but still 5600 for a tuber I think it's too high.

looks good price is alittle high in my book i paid $4400 for my 98 s3 thunderbolt 4years ago with 4200 miles with many extras. In the end it all comes down to you. I love my bike and would have paid a little more.

keeping in mind that the x1 is more popular...and the pm-wheels alone cost a bundle.

It's very clean, but unless you have your heart set on a tuber, I would wait for a good deal on an XB. But if that one was $4000, I would buy it.

I'd be trading a 1995 BMW 325is for it (unless I can sell the car out right). I would like to get an xb but just have a hard time finding buells in general. I'd be interested in an X1, XB9 or XB12 or even a Uly if anyone out there wants to hook me up!

Just to give another reference on price, I just bought a 2007 xb12s with 5,000 miles with D&D, air filter, ecm, car ends for $6,500. Bike was in perfect condition so I think I got a really good deal. Seems a bit high for my liking but maybe you can talk him down

nice bike. i had a tuber myself, you can click on my name and check out my baby. :)

i pretty much stole it off ebay. i got it with a last minute no reserve bid and noone had bid on it. so i got it for EXTREMELY cheap. rode it for a year, then sold it for $4800. it was a little more fancy than this bike here, but pretty close in caliber i guess, an 02 white lightning with just at 6k miles.
and to let you know how good of a deal i got, i made over $1k on it :) so you can find them out there cheaper. love the bike tho. try to talk him down a little. id say no more than 4500 for a bike that old. with that milage even.

In reference I bought my 03 xb9r with race can and k&n air filter for 4300 I thought it to be a steal with 1500 miles on it. In my thoughts it seems a little high, but good luck and welcome.

I ride a tuber myself, she had 6000 miles on a 98 S3 that was 8 years ago. That one does look Clean, a little pricey, but if that's what you are looking for go for it.

Welcome, and ride Safe

friends that i've talked to said that buell has a low build quality and reliability? Is this true are buell's high maintenance bikes?

Do any of your friends ride Buells? I know the XB's are very low maintenance compared to tubers do to the many upgrades over the years. One plus I always like is no chain to adjust. I know of a few people that ride XB's one is an 03 Firebolt he has had no problems that I know of. I guy i work with has a 02 zx-10 an has had all kinds of problems he got to ride it 2 times in the last two years. My 98 s3 has only been in the shop for tires in 4 years. It really comes down to who you talk to.

Just the normal oil, filter changes, fuel filter. Check the tension of the primary chain. Plugs once in a while. My bike is the most reliable vehicle I own, and I don't really obsess about it.
They are very reliable IMO.

So would it be better to wait and find a XB instead of an X1. What was bad about the tube frames and where can i read about it.

I got my 07 XB12R Firebolt for $4500 with 3k mi. I traded a 98 Olds Cutlass w/ 75k miles for my wife's 02 Blast w/3k Miles. I took a bit of a hit but I wanted the Bike. I think tha's a whole lotta car to trade for that bike. The Badweatherbikers forum has a great Classifieds section, But I always ask my questions here. Welcome!

Nothing Bad about the Tubers, Just Newer Technology in the XB's. More influx of Cash from Harley, better Design and Development. That being said, I have over 50K on my '98 S3, and I can still work on it, Don't have those trips to the Dealership for those little issues. I have had to replace one bearing for the clutch release, I had one Cable go Bad, a Speedometer Drive, and a Rockerbox leak, and a Voltage regulator.
That has been it, since 3/2001. I like not having to rely on a computer to tune it, I re-jetted it myself, after changing the exhaust/and Intake.
If you like the X1 go for it. If you have to have the Latest and Greatest, then the XB's or the 1125's might suit you better.
It comes down to that personal decision, What are you going to be Happy With?

having a carb is nice I had my s3 dynoed with the factory set up. It was running rich I bought smaller jets from the dyno guy rolled the bike off the dyno and changed the them myself. It picked up 12hp and 10ft/lb if i remember right. I could never bring myself to buy an FI bike I don't like computers.

Yeah I had actually Bought My bike from my Younger Brother, Who had gotten it from the original owner. My Brother put the Carbon Fiber High Flow Air Cleaner, on but never rejetted it. She was running real lean, so I stepped it up two sizes, Then I put the V&H Exhaust, and had to change the slow jet, then brought the main down one. Its just about right now, I have never dynoed her but it does pass our emissions test here in AZ. Seat of the Pants, she is way more snappy, she'll loft the front tire in the cooler temps, so she is probably a little rich but don't want to mess with such a small difference.
