I have a 2007 XB9R and looking to restyle a little bit, Im in the mood for a S model headlight assy and parts to make the conversion from the R, I have the parts book for firebolt models, apparently i need more parts books as mine only shows the parts diagrams for the R. so, whatever parts i need,, ill hopefully have a parts number list soon,

XB12S, XB9S and others?

No, i dont want to sell my XB9R fairing and parts, But i would like to find the parts to restyle it to the S version.

let me know if you need part numbers, although they're from an '03 parts catalog, most part numbers should be the same

I have a set of body work coming i bought off a list member here,,, (Red translucent) and so they were shipped and on their way. So i got flyscreen covered, black fender, chin spoiler and of course the airbox.

Also at a swap meet up in Washington,,, I met some guys with a Harley shop, it was funny, none of their HD stuff was selling, I asked about Buell parts, and they left them at home figuring no one would ask for Buell, So the kid ran home and I got a hell of a deal on some Buell parts. I need to check the part numbers but i BELIEVE i got the correct top and bottom triple trees. it also has the bolt bosses for the ignition switch,. what its missing is the top piece that secures the bars in place.

what would be super helpful is YES,,, part numbers for a swap, perhaps others would like that too. But also, I would really appreciate the pages from the parts book that show those assys, Its really helpful to see what the parts look like and how they fit together.

I have 2 factory manuals, a 2003 and a 2007 Firebolt XB9R manuals (the hardcopy manuals,) I also have the 2007 Firebolt parts catalog. And im a firm believer in having the best literature, and a factory parts book is key.

So,, can i ask,, why arent we putting more stuff up on the website for parts books and manuals? If you go to the Ducati website you can download most any manual and parts book for free direct from the factory, They want you to have the factory literature.

So, yes PLEASE part numbers please to do the swap, and if someone can scan the pages from a parts book for that section, (Triple trees, brake and clutch cables and lines, headlight, and wiring) that would be awesome, or photocopies and ill pay you for the copy costs and postage,

I do realize, that all the wiring and relays are up there in the fairing, and to be really clean you have to rewire the bike, Im restyling but, maybe this sounds odd,,,, want to use the S style fairing and headlights (perhaps the gas mask conversion as well) but , has anyone took part of a fairing off something else or cut down the firebolt fairing and mixed the parts?,, or even switched over and used a Tube frame Headlight and headlight brackets, the S type fairing, amd tucked it all in with perhaps some other type partial fairing? theres a weird looking partial fairing and headlight assy for $16-30 dollars on feebay,, it almost seems like you could use that, mod it, and use the S fairing with it,
It looks kinda like a transformers face,,,, its probably a total POS,, hard to believe you can get a headlight assy and fairing that cheap without it being a POS, but it has twin 25w headlights and turnsignals inside.
Theres multiple ones listed if you do an advanced search for "Buell XB headlight"

some have a BIN at $30 some are bidding and start at $16.00

There are plenty of us that have used an S front on our R's I even went as far as redoing the harness when my bike was down, but you can make all the electrical fit in the S front. It's just a bit cramped.

sent you an email, also you may want to get the female connector and pins for the headlight harness to make it plug and play rather than cutting and splicing in blade or bullet connectors...

is that a standard connector I can source somewhere or one of those special Duestch connectors? Im familiar with the pin connectors later model HDs came with and can usually get them apart but was looking to but the pin tool.

I might at some point want to switch it all back to a stock R model so i dont mind customizing but would prefer not to booger it up. On vintage bikes i build my own harnesses, and over time i learned how to keep them neat and functional, nothings worse than a cobbled up mess of spaghetti and crappy connections.

thanks everyone for your help on this...

I'm about to do this. I have all the parts (just waiting on the fly screen to show up). This is a great thread, and maybe we could put a thread together on here and get it stickied so others who want to do this mod can have easy access to all the tech help needed.

male connector P/N: 73154-96WE

female connector P/N: 73104-96BK

male pins P/N: 73190-96

female pins P/N: 73191-96

when you order either connector, especially the female one, MAKE SURE YOU VERIFY IT'S A 4 POSITION CONNECTOR...the part number will also bring up a female 3 position which you don't want

Ive gotten some awesome help on this little project both on the list and PMS off list. Thanks everyone.

So far, ive got Red transluscent plastics coming. (plus i recently spoke to a guy who says he got a prototype R & D red transluscent front fender he would consider selling, hmmm, not for everyday use, but would be fun for bike shows and cruise ins)

Ive got the headlight and pod assy coming and a instrument cluster

I still need some odds and ends. Some of which ill have to wait until i get the parts all here to see what else i HAVE to have, for example will likely replace some of the fasteners with allen head-cap head stainless fasteners.

I DO know i need the top clamp piece that holds the bars on. item #3 in the ISP diagrams shown above or in the parts book ISP diagram its item #8 part number # N0348.1AD its availible new but if anyone has one laying around you dont need let me know.

a few Questions;
#1 the brake lines are a differnt part number for the S mdls, im told you need to replace, can you reroute and still use the R mdl lines?

#2 Same deal with the clutch cable, can you reuse a R cable with some reroutes or is it mandatory to order the S model cable? ( I heard some drill a hole in the pods and route that way)

#3 What about throttle cables? Order new S models or will the R cables work with finesse?

#4 What bars do you guys like? On many of my vintage british bikes i use a low and wide bar with minimal rise and only a slight bit of pullback,. I heard one guy tell me he likes Renthal bars, any feedback on what works well or you guys like? Perhaps a few pix of different bars installed on S models?

the cables on the R are shorter, I know the clutch cable is about 6" shorter, I have Renthal Ultra Low's on mine standard 7/8" bar
