buell xb9 strange noise?

Buell Xb9r 2003 approx. 13XXX miles on clock

I have this 03 xb9r that when I turn the key hot or cold it makes this grinding noise. its not the normal fuel pump noise that im used to its almost a grinding noise. the bike starts just fine everytime. and then the noise usually went away, but this morning when I left for work the usual ****ty noise came on then after I started the bike it was still there when before it would just go off after the red light would go off telling me to start the bike. I thought maybe a bad fuel pump? or the fuel pump dying im not sure. any idea?

Gotta be the fuel pump, check the connections first. Then move on to the pump. Process of elimination.

most likely the pump on its way out. they usually sound like they have a load of gravel in them when they're heading out.
