How much for a black one?
I sold my last race pipe for 480 (ebay)

If I could pull that out of the one I have now It would be hard to say no to this deal :-)

Since it could vary from time to time, I'll PM you with the latest cost. Thanks!

Also..
I have a 9 motor but have a ceramic coated 12 header.

How much will this affect the tune they supply. (Xopti tuned a few years ago, but I've made minor changes that have affected it I'm sure)

Honestly, I'd have to check with TM on that and would be glad to. They are the tuning experts on these pipes for sure. I can let you know...

Any price changes to the 1125 exhaust? :D

Why wouldn't they also supply a tune for the 08-10 models?

Yes please ask about the 12 header.

How would you rate the sound from these?
I've had factory race pipe, Drummer and Special Ops.

OK...lemme try to catch up ;)

Any price changes to the 1125 exhaust?

I believe it's still in development by TM and not currently for sale so no ;)

Why wouldn't they also supply a tune for the 08-10 models?

They do. You just can't do it yourself and it's not free. They charge 300 Euro for the service and can either flash your ECM if sent to them or remote to your bike via the internet (assuming you have the cable, a computer to hook up to it and a battery charger) and flash it for you. We can coordinate that with TM if anyone needs it. PM me if so.

How would you rate the sound from these?
I've had factory race pipe, Drummer and Special Ops.

Admittedly, I haven't had the opportunity to hear one in person yet but from what I've read, it's not the loudest pipe on the market (good for some...not for others ; ) ) due to it's European development routes. Police there are much less tolerant of loud pipes. It's probably similar to the race pipe's loudness if I were to guess. Maybe someone else on here that has heard one in person could chime in?

Race pipe loudness is exactly what I'm looking for.

I have a drummer installed now, which I like very much but I don't like starting the bike real late or early as its too loud in my alley setup.

The race pipe is not as loud, which I like but the powerband is more of an on/off with the race pipe.

I want something soft at idle but throaty with RPMs.

So I read the article (http://www.twinmotorcycles.nl/artikelen.asp?cid=7&aid=276) and I was hoping to see some real, useful dyno data, but... I have a problem with the graph. All internal combustion engines will have the hp/tq cross at 5250 rpm, but this graph crosses at 6200? Something isn't right but I don't know what it is. Personally, I'd like to see more graphs of the exhaust on different bikes.

I'm not saying that the exhaust won't perform as TM describes, but I'd like to see some more data before dropping 6 bills on an exhaust

I'm not going to pretend to be a dyno or tuning expert but the article you linked was for the European exhaust TM is working on. If you look closely, you can see that it is different, mainly in the front where it goes into the header.

Check this link (http://www.twinmotorcycles.nl/artikelen.asp?cid=7&aid=73) out. The same may be true of the crossing point but for consistency's sake, I figured we should be looking at the correct graphs for this particular system. I can get some input from the guys at TM who know this side of the development very well. Feel free to email me with any other detailed questions you may have and I'll do what I can to get you the info you would like to have.

Thanks!

The scales on either side of the graph are not graduated the same which is why they don't cross at 5252 rpm.

Hmm...I'm not a dyno tech either but using 2 different scales, rwhp on one side and bhp on the other, wouldn't alter the laws of physics as far as rpm is concerned. 5252 is 5252. All I'm saying is that I'd personally like to see an accurate graph with true hp and tq curves. I'm not trying to beat up on anyone, but I've never seen graphs like those particular ones.

True, but the graph has SAE wheel horsepower on the left and Nm on the right.

I've had several questions on this system. I'll be compiling them and working with TM to clear them all up...thanks!

well the fact there are 2 scales on the graph might help one on. The left side and one on the right side
if there was only one numerical scale for hp and TQ then yes they would cross at 5252. Also SAE corrected horsepower and torque have been on different scales. All you see is SAE corrected on the REAR WHEEL.

Most peopel ignoring the fact that the NUMBERS are supposed to match at 5252rpm, if the Y-AXIS if different, they will NOT CROSS on a graph, guys this is basic graphing. That's having a speedometer where each line is incremented 5mph, and another speedometer where each line is spaced out exactly the same as above but they're incremented 10mph, then accelerating up to 60 miles an hour, and expecting the needle to be at the exact same spot. For all intents are purposes these graphs placed on the same sheet of paper on a different scaling.

Hopes this helps.

not only would they have to have the same scale but that equation is only valid when using horsepower and ft-lbs. The 5252 constant changes when the units are different. 1 hp is 33,000 ft-lbf/min and there are 2pi radians in 1 revolution. 33000/2pi is ~5252.

see example (not a buell) for same scale but using hp and Nm
http://www.valkyrienorway.com/cpg1412/albums/userpics/10001/Dyno_Knut_olav2.jpg

aside from nerding out on units this is a great option at a competitive price point. [up]

Screw it. I'm in :-)

After I get it mounted up, I'll just sell the race can and drummer. Or maybe keep one if em. Who knows...

Now, where's the best place for lifters and pushrods?
Might as well drop the motor if I'm already taking off the extremely complicated exhaust brackets.. HAHA

Absolutly great pipe! Sound is not too loud but it still has that "deep thunder" that you want when driving and when at idle. I would say it's a little bit louder then the race pipe.

Here is a dyno from my '09 XB12ss

Very happy with the pipe, especially with the performance!

(i got the 1st gen torque hammer).

Pipe made it in!

I'm extremely impressed with the level of craftsmanship on this pipe!!
It'll be a few months before I get it installed, but straight out of the box, I can say the quality looks extremely well!
Big thumbs up from me!

600 sounds expensive for a pipe, but count the fact it comes with a tune that was dyno tuned to perfection (With a larger header like I have) and a pipe this beautiful... I no longer have that " I just spent how much" feeling.. haha.
AND it keeps the chin fairing!

Nothing but thumbs up from me on this one!!!

Thanks again Sandro!
Big props to 5-0 Dro and Twin Motorsports!!

Received all my parts to rebuild the top end the other day.

Now I just need to sweet talk the wife into letting me drop the motor before I start a COMPLETE master bathroom remodel.....

Once that starts, I'd be a smart man to not even touch the scooter unless I'm going to work.... Haha

And after that I'll get this pipe installed! Can't wait !

Had a chance to hold one of these first hand yesterday. I have to say that pics don't do this pipe justice (but here's another just in case ;) ) The build quality and finish is top notch!
