N e one ever plasi dipped their wheels? I am just looking to see if I can get a few tips or pointers before I do. I have watched the youtube post on it but am wondering if anyone has done a blast wheel...

my mate dis his Subaru WRX rims in plasti dip matt black

looked bad ass and lasted 8 months before they got a rip in them when he got his tires changed so peeled back to clean new rims then plasti dipped again.

ive plasti dipped other stuff but not wheels and never had a problem with it.
i always start with like 2 thinner base coats and then start applying it really thick for a additional 3-6 coats and let it dry.

Powder coating is cheap compared to the labor and time that you put into that, this is just a recommendation. If you want to do it your self good on you, post a pic though I'm sure everyone would be interested to see how it turns out. [up]

My son plasti-dipped the wheels on his Neon SRT4. He had it on the about 6 months before one wheel started peeling. He recently took the plasti-dip off and repainted them.

Just don't plasti-dip your brake rotors in the process.

I know this thread is a little old, but I have my entire Jeep plastidipped Camo Tan and Black. It looks totally badass and looks like a military vehicle. My coworker plastidipped his chrysler 300C gunmetal first, then sprayed white over that. I've had the plastidip on my Jeep for a year now, and 4 weekend off road trips in the woods later, and 15,000 miles, it still looks great! I'm getting ready to respray my Jeep camo green here in a couple weeks...I love the stuff!

I did my lower cowl in black Plasti-dip then went over it with a metallic Sharpie. It has held up good so far, although it has only been about 3-4 months and I only ride twice a week.

Ive done it on a GTO and a year later they look pretty good! The only issue is cleaning. If you go to hard they tear and flake.

I ended up plastidipping my blast with Green metalizer and black. Once I chop the tail I will paint it to match. Gotta say it was super cheap and super easy. And if next summer I want a different color, I just peal it off :)

My XB wheels are plasti-dipped with the anthracite grey and the clear over top. Got about 5K miles on it since they were painted and they still look good. When my tires need replaced I'm going to take them to get powder coated though, the paint was just a cheap fix (had 1 gold wheel and 1 silver).

All it took was a few cans of plasti dip and a six pack of coors to make it happen!
