used and a little beat up is okay! (re: on a bit of a budget)

looking for something lighter and lower profile than the stock.

Currently converting my 03 firebolt to a dualsport adv bike (well, in someways). Weight and size are a pretty big factor in the current exhaust.

I have seen fellas on here with cool homemade ones, jardines, supertrapps, etc. Am willing to explore and experiment a bit. WIll be fabbing a rock guard to fit over it more than likely.

Have a pretty modest budget however, so we'll see what happens. Thank you!!

While on the subject, a chance to ask the question (and I realize, at the risk of purist persecution) anybody run a high exhaust or even an undertail exhaust on their XB? Still very much the dead of winter here and am playing with ideas and options. Thanks again!

I'm pretty sure you would end up losing power by going under the tail with the exhaust.

I just picked up an exhaust from a buddy locally in a trade that I might be willing to part with. Shoot me an email. My username at gmail.

only have one question...

why convert a Firebolt when you could just buy a Uly...?

"I'm pretty sure you would end up losing power by going under the tail with the exhaust."
How so? And 'because Eric said so and put it under for a reason' doesn't count ;)

Pretty sure one of the main reasons he put it under the bike was to help keep it compact and keep the center of gravity small with the short wheel base. If done with a little thought there would be no lose of power.

"why convert a Firebolt when you could just buy a Uly...?"
because I have this bike and I need to work with what I have. This is a hobby and as we all know, this hobby can get very expensive.

I got a really good deal on the bike and I've been working on it and having fun with it. I enjoy thinking outside of the box.

Thanks for the replys so far! Still looking for exhaust options!
(picture is a rough idea sketch I came up with, just playing around, I realize the exhaust would need to be on the opposite side of the bike...)

your best option would be to go with a single or twin pipe of an SV1000 or TL1000.

here are a few pics i found of under seat exhausts on Buells.
