Hi, i just got a call from a friend, this guy is a major player in the local bike world, He is known as the guy who revived the Norton brand from obscurity before his investors sold it out from underneath him,
So, He called me just a few minutes ago and was asked by a local dealership (very well known) to liquidate their racing program stuff.

Already gone is the Ducati stuff, sold in one pile. Soon will be their Triumph racing program stuff, but of interest here is their BUELL stuff (OH ! HAPPY DAY!! :D)

BRAND NEW 1190 motor in the crate, bunch of other 1190 stufff, and some Buell stuff,. Im not real clear if all these parts are RACE parts or take offs from street bikes converted to racers, or a mixture of both. Pallets of the stuff. So i told him i WANT It,,, sounds like some fair prices might be had. Some is just NOS parts in the packages with washers, fasteners, gaskets, some seems to be high end parts and New forks, shocks, wheels, and i hear theres 2 bikes, sounds like the bikes are XB. Will post soon, I am taking my camera and making an inventory. stay posted.

BTW< Still looking for a fuel pump for my 2001 S3 Tuber, ANYONE have one or will loan me one for a few days?
I wont be keeping it on the bike, will be switching the bike over to a Mikuni HSR carb, i just want to fire it up on setup thats on the bike now, before i tear it down

okay EDIT,, 1125, so will be looking at the inventory and do a partial inventory to see whats there on Friday, Sounds like a mix of 1125 and XB stuff. theres multiple pallets of it and sounds like a lot to sort thru. Be interesting to see how much of it is street bike parts and if theres any cool racing parts.

Several possibilities, One i buy it all and sell it off in chunks or piece by piece, or Ill line someone else with it.
I know the guys involved and pretty good to deal with, right now i have it locked up and we will see what kind of deal it is. The dealer ships owner has heavily invested over the years in national racing and supported a number of teams, But it sounds like he just wants to get rid of the stuff in full swoop and not deal in nickel and dime stuff.
Another guy came in and bought the whole pile of the Ducati stuff so whats left is Buell and Triumph.

Im taking my camera and a note pad, Will update soon.

okay went and looked today, got a bunch of pictures, not quite as much stuff as i thought, but some cool stuff, would be fun to play with, Some full on race stuff, some stock take off stuff. I have dibs on a package deal, and will want to resell most of it to keep a few pieces for myself.

The dealership owner is at Daytona right now with his race team, wont be back for a while, He called while we were at his dealership going thru the piles, he gave more info but we also need details from the race team mgr and the head tech guy of whats there. We are completing an inventory in the interim and will sit down and haggle over price when he gets back, (roughly 30 days) in the interim I will load a bunch of pix i took today and want to get some feedback and have some questions,, I hope i can make a fair offer thats a WIN-WIN for everybody. stay tuned:)

Im wondering if theres not part of a 1125 bike floating around there that we missed. Theres a NEW 1125 motor in the packing, was going to be blue printed for their race program, there must have been more bikes, theres 4 1125 swingarms, and some drive belts, some 1125 body work, wire harnesses, forks, and other odds and ends, but im wondering what happened to the rest of the stuff. I will ask, this dealer owns multiple buildings and has race stuff stashed around the US as well,, When he gets back into town, will be interesting to find out what else is there and more details.

Theres 2 XB bikes, they are going to keep one of them,, its been seriously modded and been around as a race mule and test bike for a long time, Seriously reworked by some of the best in the performance world. Im told They are going to reconfigure it from Road race bike to a Salt flats bike. so thats off the table They didnt even like me taking pictures of it and the pile sitting there on that pallet. (Wasnt much to look at in its present state IMHO)

The other bike could be really interesting. Im anxious to hear from Mike, the race team head guy what he did to it, It was bought from/for salvage as a lightly wrecked XB9, (picture coming soon) it was stripped down and the motor gone thru by the Race team head guy (He mostly builds top fuel Harley dragsters and road race bikes) It has a big bore kit of some kind, (size isnt known until he returns) and the heads and intakes were redone by Baisley performance who are very well known. Its got some sort of special cams and alternative cam timing set up, Theres a super trick race pipe for it as well, felt super light, might be just thin wall stainless but Kenny thought it was titanium, The bike was being configured and built for some race class with HP limits and class restrictions. Wont know the rest until middle of April,. But theres a full set of race bike body work up on the shelf and enough parts to make a whole bike out of it, wouldnt need much. Told there is NO TITLE, might be able to get one with a bill of sale from the dealership, or swap frames with a titled frame elsewhere. Or just run it as a track bike,.

more soon when i get time to post pix, but i gotta work in the early AM so off for now...

I will tell you this.. that 1125 engine is hard to come by.. when mine blew up it took the stealership almost 2 months to even get a lead on one.. and another month tobget it in their possession.. cost $6,579.99..... get ahold of that for sure.. good luck. Patiently awaiting pics..

I appreciate the interest, and truth is, I should have waited to post some of this stuff, so i THOUGHT t was going to look it over and be haggling over price on the spot and was looking to build up interest as i THOUGHT i would be looking to buy this stuff in a short period of time, find some buyers for the bulk of it and keep a few bits for myself,
But now i know that it will be roughly mid april before i can even discuss price with the owner. So i got a bit ahead of myself,.
So my new goal here is to post some pix and get some feedback on what some of these parts are, and whats it worth. so assuming i can get this stuff, and im first in line for it, plus theres more stuff coming soon for Triumph as well, I will post details when im ready to start selling So NO CALLING DIBs on anything, I appreciate the enthusiasm, but until its in my hands, or PLAN B i can line up someone else if its too rich for my blood then we can get into making bids, offers, etc.
WHAT I WANT NOW is help in ID'ing some of this stuff, and whats a RETAIL price, and whats the wholesale price, and then i can make the guy a fair offer and of course try and get the best deal possible and then pass the savings onto you guys. I DO NOT NEED ANY OF THIS STUFF, But id like some bits and pieces and if i can sell enough to get my money back, and perhaps a little for my time and investment, and keep a few cool pieces for me, then I dont have any problem passing on the best deals possible to everyone else.
the mention above about the 1125 motor is super helpful, I dont know what a new one is worth, and if i can get it, whoever i sell it to would likely get it for WAY less than the above price, But that info above sure is helpful to me to get an idea of what they go for.
I will also say this, I have no interest in 1125 parts, so good news for you guys. game on. stay tuned for pix. Ill upload a bit as i get time. thanks for your patience

Boxs of ECMS, many have tuning ref numbers on them, I will find out from the race team mgr whats flashed on them, they are all RACE USE ECMs, some misc hardware, seats, bits of other odds and ends, Anything that jumps out at you please let me know.

Mystery harnesses, could be DUCATI. TRIUMPH, BUELL , SPORTY, BIG TWIN or some weird Jap stuff that snuck in. will open up that box and spread them out later, try and ID them, We are thinking BUELL right now, but the storage area was a bit of a mess so still sorting, any ideas?http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/16071_20140316010903_L.jpg

Box of what APPEARS to be all BLAST Body work, I found this way over in another corner, so we are still uncovering Buell stuff, and likely more hidden elsewhere. those seem to be tank skins stacked on top of each other and more body work in the box. dunno whats the story on them, I dont think these guys ever raced Blasts but could be wrong, maybe they are just damaged pieces swapped out.

set of NEW NOS forks for a Harley 1100? The bike is in Florida right now, not really a Buell, but has a Buell motor and the owner has one of them, I think these forks are availible in the deal but waiting on word on that. not sure what else they could be used on, might be setup only for that app, or might fit on most anything,

if they are part of the deal, what is a pair of these (L&R) worth?

Loud mean fast and Fugly. Im excited to hear whats all internally in this beast. The guy who built it builds some of the top road race and Top Fuel Harleys out there on the race circuit.

That's a lot lf stuff lol. From what I can tell all of your assumptions an what you were told are correct. I spotted four 1125 swing arms, 2 1125 front wheels (the diamond blue ones), and some misc stock body work. In the boxes of parts in pictures 2 and 3, they both seem to be full of stock take offs EXCEPT, there is what looks to be a set of 1125 race headers in the Plastic tub. Hard to tell, maybe it's just wishful thinking lol. All the rest appears to be stock xb parts or exhaust systems. But from what I can see the only things I would deem "valuable" are the ohlins forks, ecm's (hopefully a few of them are ebr's tuneables), misc exhaust systems, Penske shock, and the, hopefully, race headers. Most of the other parts seem like stock take offs.

d_adams
03-16-2014, 02:21 PM
The 1125 headers in that tub are stock.
The black ceramic coated headers are Force pipes.
There's one stock xb header and the clean/unused one is most likely from a tuber.
The shock with the blue spring is a stock xb unit.
The black exhaust (2 pipes) is a d&d, the other end appears to be a jardine.

loose1
03-16-2014, 02:41 PM
I'd be interested in the ohlins forks, an +04 xb rear pulley (if there is one), the force exhaust, a white blast tank cover (if there is one), and maybe a front rim.

The silver header it off a '99+ x1 or s3.

If you need help IDing parts pm me and I'll send you my email

thanks, Matt

Retail price can be found here at http://surdyke.com/ . Just plug in the part number or keyword, which is a cool feature. For example new retail price for the front wheel is 304.50. Bro deal would be like 125-150 i would hope :D. I've seen 1125 swing arms on ebay for around 50 bucks.

You just have to make a list of the parts and then go from there with the parts numbers and prices.

I hope it works out for you and us!

Heres the XB9 I mentioned before, The short version was it was bought from/for salvage and probably lightly wrecked? Was intended for some race class, and they started building it for that. the motor was gone thru and has some sort of big bore kit, some sort of cams, and Baisley Performance redid the heads and possible the intake and EFI, and thats as far as they got, the pipe pictured here was set aside for this project, its SUPER light weight, feather light, Kenny thinks its Titanium, but i suspect its just thin wall stainless, its got some sort of weird dimpled material in the first inch and a half on the inside ID of the pipes, almost like Torque Cones but not, the body work is not a good picture but ill get more of that later, it didnt come with this bike but im told its a complete set that could work for this bike,. Would be a great track bike, or one hell of a monster beasty for the street.
I am anxious to discuss the tech details with the race team who were building it.

There is a HUGE pile of race tires all labeled Buell,,, about a 10ftx12ft piple approx 5 ft tall, some are slicks and some are treads,, didnt look closely, some look like a lot of use, some not so much, dont know what to value that stuff at. I know what NEW goes for ,, but not sure if anyone would want them,

There HAS to be more stuff around, or they already sold some of it? or its at another location, the 1125 motor is IN the race trailer currently in Florida, perhaps theres a whole 1125 bike there too... more soon. :D[smirk]

Some of this stuff is more in demand than others, for example, what do i do about the pile of race tires?

The pricing of that motor was very helpful in that i now know what was the retail, and you NEVER go into a package deal paying retail for everything, you would be stupid to do so as certain things just are very difficult to find buyers for. But the retail price gives me something to go by, I already got a hint about the price on the motor and sounds like its fair, Ive know the sellers for a long time, and have done business before with them and while a little gnashing of teeth happened, over all, was decent in the past.

So the good news is i have a month to raise capital, Ive been working on a list and have a base idea of where i think it should be. But im not counting on anything yet. IF my deal falls thru i will follow thru and make it availible to others or track where it ends up. In the interim think positive :)

Hey guys, seems this thread came back alive, Look as i said already, I jumped the gun on this, I THOUGHT it was one of those deals where I went and looked and would make an offer and sew it up in a few days. The Owner of the shop was gone racing and i was dealing with one of his guys. I was told that nothing would happen until the owner came back from his racing jaunt.
So, we are NOW actually at the point where he is back, I was on the phone today, and invited back to see the rest of the parts, Some stuff was in the race trailer, So good chance i will be there thursday or friday and hope to make an offer on the stuff Friday.
I also got more details on some of it and waiting for other details, theres multiple issues, and want to be sure WHAT im buying and whats included and NOT included. Also there is a couple bikes as well as some other brands.
So i will post as soon as i know more. patience patience.

So here is the plan, IF I get the stuff, which is a good chance. I will make an attempt to sell direct thru here to true enthusiasts. IF that becomes a clusterF##K and unmanageable, then ill sell it on ebay, but id rather avoid the hassles and fees and deal direct. So lets all play nice and fair okay? So, IF I cant swing a fair deal, then I will be looking at passing the opportunity onto others. Right now im first in line and they do NOT want to deal with Tom Dick and Harry, So im thinking I have a good shot and i have a history with these people with a good track record.

Let me be clear, I own a TON of bikes and projects, I DO NOT need ANY of this stuff. My only goal here is Id like a shot at a few isolated XB bits, and other than that pass the stuff on to people who will use the stuff to keep cool bikes on the road, I dont need headaches, hassles or the money. So, thats where we stand. I work a day job as well and super busy but will follow this to the end. okay??:D

In the meantime, heres what i would REALLY like to add to my collection, just because,,,,,,I mean c'mon, how F##Kin cool is this? Probably outside my budget but Im waiting on details on this one too. So who wants to float me the cash to buy it? http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/16071_20140316020248_L.jpg

Okay i got a chance to meet up and visit the shop again earlier today. other than the 1125 motor what i posted is whats there. So, I was also mistaken about the big pile of race tires. I MIGHT be able to get them, but i dont see the point and they werent looking to sell them, Im still baffled as why bother with them, but I was mistaken thinking they were part of whats on sale, I will research them, and perhaps ill throw out a bid on them, but the shop was NOT looking to sell them.

My offer to the shop is thus a 3 step offer, 1 offer for the parts, 1 offer for the motor (1125) and 1 offer for the half built XB9 race bike. Still waiting on details for the parts and the bike,,, but heres the pix of the motor,. I was told by
Buell Guru SQuidBuellie that some 1125 motors are more desirable than others. apparently the early ones were the really good ones. I looked and cannot tell what year this one was made but i wrote down the engine serial number and parts numbers on a bar codes on the box and the motor. Perhaps some one can figure out what year it was built. Brand new, still in the original packing, zero miles, This motor was bought off the books by the owner of the shop for his race team. The race bike is gone, so the misc pieces you saw, are all thats left plus this motor.

On the outside of the box is the manuf stickers and a series of bar codes.

MADE IN AUSTRIA blah blah blah...

Eng number #8408641 Rev 13

Part # 391125110
T0110 2A

So,,, dunno what a new one of these is worth. We know at least one forum member paid $6k and change for one installed, whats it worth??????? Is there interest at $3800 plus shipping? You guys tell me.
I might be able to get the official dealer bill of sale with it, but that might be up for negotiation,. I dont know yet how he feels about it since this stuff isnt part of his shops commercial inventory. this is his private race stash.
So,,, lets hear it from the list members is there any interest on this?

okay, I am still waiting on the bids im making for the misc parts and the XB9 race bike,,, but just in case any of you guys are in the market for one HOT **** mean ass race bike,,,,,,,,this is for sale as well.
Its currently being marketed to some big shots down in Southern California, but whoever comes up with the cash first gets it. I would buy it if i had the cash, In a freaking hot second. In my book its cool.

So... I got many of the details on it today,. This is a hand built hot rod, This was specially built back in the late 1990s for a special AMA race class called street tracker series, Joe Kopp won the title on THIS bike in 2000. And if he won it, that makes this the fastest bike of the series. if thats not cool enough, feast your eyes on some hot stuff,
Big bore and 1300cc, short stroke motor, Specially made castings by world famous Baiseley cyl head specialties right here in Oregon, The heads alone were $2500 each, Im told monster big valves plus special ports and those special castings on the side for the race style intakes and the exhaust on the other side. Its got special early race 4 speed with tunable ratios and gear sets, and beefed up trans, remote starter set up, Custom built one off C & J race frame (Frame was $3200) special swing arm, Mono shock with a Penske adjustable race shock< Alloy rims, stainless spokes, Yamaha R6 forks, over 100 hp, dyno tuned. Yours for $13,250. http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/16071_20140419005517_L.jpghttp://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/16071_20140419005444_L.jpg

I have more pix, just ask.

I want this bike for myself SO BAD,,, Im thinking of starting my own kickstarter campaign to buy it, Wont you make a donation now???? [confused]

FYI:
= Big bore XB motors chuck out 100+ hp when built badly and cheap... So it's all on what kind of money you have under the mattress.
= 1125 motor is probably worth $$1500, you can buy whole used proven motors for $800-1000 online. 1190 motors are also available now.
= that built XB9 is equally interesting to the go fast community as the XR dirt tracker.

Im getting the impression the NEW 1125 motor isnt that much in demand, I was told by a few people that most 1125 owners wont sink a lot of money into their bikes if they had to replace their motor,... I talked to the guy who owns the stuff and he said they were a little flexible, Could come down to $3200. Thats probably still too high. If there isnt more interest here I might try and give it a shot on ebay for a week or 2 otherwise Ill let them keep it.

As I said,,i made a 3 legged offer. still waiting on word back on the XB9 Bike and the pile of parts.

So,,, Those Ohlins gold forks, Yes,,,,i got a line of people who want them, but i talked to Squidbuellie and another guy, They both said OHLINS makes all the later forks XB and up, so regular XB forks are OHLINS as well, but those Gold ones arent that special, but people want them as they are different than the regular forks. IS that true? It IS possible those werent for a Buell and snuck over to the Buell pile from the Ducati pile, I looked on Feebay and cannot find ANY OHLINS gold anodized forks for Buells listed in the last 30 days. Ones for Ducati, Triumph and some other bikes are all over the map price wise, What is the going rate for them? WHats a fair price?

When i submitted the bid, the initial reaction was some of it was pretty fair, but they noticed right off the price i bid on the OHLINS and said the owner would never go for that. so clearly there will be some haggling.

( I listed the parts, put what i thought they might sell for, then put in my offer prices for each item, then added them all up for a total, So i offered less than what i think retail is for the whole pile, but what i think is a fair price, The Owner understands this logic, but its going to come down to haggling a final price, He doesnt want to sell the stuff piece by piece and wholesale package deals need to leave room for your time and effort,)

So would be helpful to find out if i was WAY off base on those OHLINS gold forks,,,, whats a fair price?

The stock XB type forks,, (usually silver) tend to sell for between $100-250 for a good pair of forks, depending on seller and good buddy deals. at least thats what i found.

Some progress today, just got the call from the owners. I made a 3 legged deal offer, 1 for the parts, 1 for the XB9 race bike and 1 for the 1125 motor,. There doesnt seem to be a lot of interest on the motor here on this list. So its probably over priced, but im pretty sure the dealer cost on it is what they are asking. So if anyone wants that 1125 motor contact me ASAP, otherwise im going to list it on feebay for a 250 over the asking price to cover the fees. That doesnt really make me any money but thats okay, Its about getting it to someone who can use it and builds good will for the rest of the deal.
-----------------------------------------------------
The XB9 race bike deal got turned down, Im asking whats their minimum but the feeling is let it sit a while longer and they will deal on it. Something may or may not happen on that but at this point its not moving anywhere

I have a verbal okay on the parts pile and need to move some money around and go pick it up, will also be out of town for 4 days at the end of the week, so will be posting more next week and following up on interest here.

So some progress... thats what i go for now

Easy way to tell forks is there a caliper mount on BOTH forks or just 1? BOTH means it has absolutely nothing to do with Buell...
Ohlins forks were on XB-RR & could be ordered through Buell IF one had a race license. My guess is they were meant for that xb9. Like I said, that bike probably has $4500 in parts, if tuned it's chucking out 100+Hp to the wheel. $ or it's a mean ass track toy!

Thanks, I talked to him more about the forks, the feeling is the forks migrated over from the pile of Ducati parts, but many people might use them on a Buell, so i had to come up a bit on the price to get them included.

The NOS XR1000 forks or whatever those black forks are are not included in the deal, but they can be had for $600 for the pair, They are for such a rare bike (the owner of these parts has one of them) that the issue is finding someone who knows what they are and needs a pair,.

The race XB IS worth a LOT in parts, but hotrodded or racing bikes dont fetch a lot of money for resale, plus its not completed, as with many things with a race team and a multi line dealership, projects get started but not always finished, So its really only a collection of parts, Im interested in what they owner thinks is his minimum but for the time being its just sitting.

I believe ohlins forks for XB run $2500. I heard there are only 100 sets. 56 on XB-RR & a few extras were ordered. I'm sure they are the same as some other sport bike with the bottom end changed for XB.

Problem is your buyin from a DEALER, you won't get a good deal on any of it because they know exactly what everything is worth. Or they THINK they know... Which is worse.

I want them for the performance not just the fact they are sexy in gold but I'm a die hard ohlins fan. The cheapest I can find is 2600 which is about 2000 over my budget lol I'll just rebuild mine with ohlins dampers

umm, no this isnt that kind of deal, This isnt a dealers commercial inventory, this is a business owner who funds and operates a race team out of his own pocket, and for a variety of reasons will not sell these parts to the public. He runs multiple race teams and even though he doesnt have Ducati bikes in his dealership, runs a Ducati race team, plus other brands as well,. So im happy with the deal we made, and i think list members here will be happy as well, I COULD just ebay the lot, but id prefer not to deal with ebay on all this stuff, if its a hassle i will, but we shall see how this pencils out.

Ill get more details on these Gold Ohlins and research this. As i said, i want a little for my time and trouble but this isnt a big mark up deal,
