I know I'm beyond the 8 hour cap you put on it, but this is an option for a good price.

Some guy on here, also in "Chicagoland" has posted he was going to part out a perfectly good buell, needs a little wrench time love, but looked like a solid project not needing anything major, he has posted twice he is going to part it out, but i dont think he has actually done anything other than get people riled up, Perhaps a deal can be made to save the bike from his evil clutches, you get a fair deal and every one lives happily ever after?

just a thought.

yea I mean it depends what it needs, but if the price is right, I don't see why not. any idea who it was?

some character by the screen name "DefconJuan" 31 postings, no rep points. you can look at my profile, and click on topics i have replied to and look for it that way if you want.

Theres links to a photo page of the parts as well as a spread sheet for DIBS on parts,,, lots of people had interest in the parts, but to my knowledge he hasnt followed thru at all,,,,,,,disappeared for a while, then posted again, and now off the radar. But check it out and perhaps you can reach him and perhaps make a deal everyone can live with. Was/IS a nice looking bike. worth a shot, better than seeing it parted out.:p

bump

We narrowed it down to a firebolt 12. thats what were looking for. any for sale in the midwest? There were some nice 1125's on this site and on others but the insurance is just too high for him. that and preference leaves us looking at the xb12r. would love to find one soon for around 5k or less.

The insurance on my 03 xb9 and 08 1125 are almost identical, right around $400 each.

maybe age plays a part? He's 19. mine is pretty cheap, I only pay like 225 a year.

I noticed when I was looking for a firebolt last year that the prices of Buells in the Chicago and Milwaukee areas are much higher than other cities (ie. Indianapolis, Detroit, STL, Iowa, etc). Not sure on your price range but the question to ask is if your time and cost of gas is worth saving the extra $500-$1000.

For me it was not worth it and I bought a Firebolt only 45 mins from my house probably for an additional $500-$700 what I could have paid had I gone further away. To be fair the bike has the full race system on it and also had the SCG shock along with a ton of extras including unused stock exhaust, 1/2 of the chain conversion kit, stock rear shock and extra brake pads.

Also, I guess I am not the typical Buell owner who prefers to wrench on their bike. Don't get me wrong I have done some of the upgrades myself such as integrated blinker/tail light, front blinkers, new air filter, RSS, and headlights. But beyond that stuff I would rather pay someone to deal with the hassle (oil change, fixing neutral switch, etc) so I can just enjoy riding.

Anyway hopefully you find what you are looking for and your brother is just as stoked about getting the bike as all of us were when we first got ours.

yea I'm hoping to find something in wisconsin. I love the hunt, I'm excited to have a new freshly stock buell just 15 minutes away. I want the modding addiction to begin again. Im running out of things to do to my bike

bolt for sale (http://chambana.craigslist.org/mcy/4400880770.html)

what do you guys think about this? powder coated rims? or are they just the cherry bomb red rims? Its hard to tell in the picture. mostly looks stock. taller windscreen, blacked out primary cover, belt guard removal.

he is right around 3800 bucks.

in case it doest mention, its an 04 with 13k miles. apparently excellent condition

According to the ad its an 05. Looks to be in good shape. If it checks out, starts up nice and nothing is leaking, I'd say its pretty solid for the price.

I had my rims powder coated. As long as the rotor surface mounting area is cleaned of any excess powder coating you should be ok.

my bad, it is an 05. I got mine in november of 09 with 4800 miles on it. I bought it for 4800. so It seems he's right where he should be, but it would be nice if i could get him down a couple hundred.
