I know BPG isn't on very much anymore, but hopefully someone will know. Can I put a black 09 primary cover on my 07 so I don't have to look at my ugly champaign cover anymore?

Kajer had an extra one with a tiny little ding in it, so I stole it! sshhhhhh, don't tell him! haha j/k

Yep, according to this thread which BPG posted in: '09 Primary Cover (http://www.buellxb.com/Buell-XB-Forum/Buell-Parts-Guy-Questions-and-Answers/Primary-Cover)

Why pay $220 for a primary cover when you can take it off and have it powder coated for $30?

No problem Dave. In my wee little brain, I'm betting that's going to look awesome! Care to post a pic when you get it done?

I just did this swap and it was a pain in the ass!!! AND I was attempting to torque a primary cover bolt down and it snapped before I reached the minimum torque spec. [sad] Now I have to take it all off again to fix it[down].

But it looks good! I'll post pics tomorrow when it's light

I hope you know, When you took possession of said primary cover, you released my parts and I from any and all liability against any damage or damages to your b1k3, past, present, and future.

Otherwise, thank you for shopping at kajer's '09 parts warehouse!

Very nice. [up] What was the worst part about the whole deal besides snapping a bolt?

The tech at the dealership said to unthread the cover from the cable by rotating the cover AROUND the cable. [confused] Although that way might work for him, I preferred taking the clutch cable mounts off so I could just unscrew the cable and screw it in to the new one. I think all the oil was the most annoying part.

But I had even more trouble today. I hopped on to go for a ride and the clutch loosened about a mile down the road and it was unusable. I had to take the inspection cover off and re adjust the clutch on the side of the road. YAY [down] . It loosened a little after that, but I'll fix that tonight.
