If you're running the recommended 91 octane, you might have the wrong spark plugs in. Have you cross-referenced the numbers? (Stock on your bike should be Harley-Davidson No. 10R12A plugs) Is it still under warranty?

LEFOX I hate using boosters myself I have buells race ecm its not programable . Dealer says it takes 50 miles for ECM to figure out whats correct ? they said the ECM will change its own rograming by itself but I had doubts. Loe and behold 100 miles later still same situation . Im now going buells ACTUAL race ecm that can be programed ... Jake

jake, every ecm is programable...it's a cpu.
problem is most harley techs are no buell techs and don't know what the hell they are talking about.

the ecm 50mile learning thingy is a joke...really. it takes about 15minutes @ 3000rpm for the ecm to learn the tps setting and that's all it's going to learn.

1Q still unanswered, what oil are you running?

Hi Lefox thanks for the help BTW ive had Countless bikes ( 5 at a time .. goofy right? LOL)but got out for about 6 years . Im used to Japanese bikes with downdraft flatslides. This is my first bike with fuel injection but ive never seen a computer that has original thoughts for itself (ie the 50 mile changing calibration routine) ... Castrol syntax full synthetic 20/50 but how would oil come into the equation ?

Did the dealer verify ignition timing? Not uncommon to be off.

he said with the new Buells the ignition timing is set and cant be changed also ... Al at HTTP://www.americansportbike.com explained it ( the guys is phinominal on buells, knows them backwards and forwards .. they are set at sea level and variaton highe or lower changes the air/ fuel mix ( very short answer ) great company Mom ANd pop american business . if you have good oil, your engine will run cooler = less chance for pinging.

castrol is good oil, but i had better results with redline, mobil1...aircooled twin specific oil.

i would say, try it and see what it does.

STATIC timing is set at factory and is not adjustable, but it still can be off.(and changed) Just because it was factory set doesn't always mean it is right.
http://www.ecmspy.com/tuning_guide.shtml
Check page 22 on thr PDF tuning guide. Mike at xopti has stated that in his tuning he has seen some not correct. There is also timing controlled by the ecm and who knows for sure if is correct if they haven't actually verified it. Obviously, something is not correct. Same with the fuel mapping. One easy thing to try would be to swap ecm's with another bike to see if there was any change. Maybe lose the Jardine tuner? Just a thought.

my 04 xb12s used to ping a lot when i chopped the throttle, especially from a standstill. I filled her up wit royal purple and it reduced the pinging dramatically.
