On my 1125 I Have cf engine covers. But that's it to my knowledge. I have a cf tail for sale from American sport bike.com.

I think logix is talking about the entire engine side cover actually made from carbon and true structural parts not just hard part covers. Somewhere I have seen motorcycle wheels made from carbonfiber. And if you can make a wheel out of it I would imagine it would be possible to build structural components such as the swing arms etc.

I work for an aviation company and we make engine parts out of the stuff

frame and swingarm would be awesome, but the mold are expensive as f*ck for parts that large. engine case and side covers are a little easier. I think it was Ford in the late 90's or 2000's that had an all composite engine that ran non-stop for 100,000 miles.

^I'd love to see information on that.

the composite matrix is proprietary, but the process requires the mold to be vacuumed and in a compression state for the cure time, great big presses

press's or presses? well f*ck :D

You'd need an autoclave. Not many guys making actual structural hard parts. Mostly decoration, covers for covers, fenders and stuff.

BST makes carbon fiber wheels. That's about all I can think of.

didn't EBR get financing from GE Capitol? Now Hero?

hey Dean, wouldn't a CF frame and swingarm be badass? Between that and engine CF usage could be a nice chunk of weight. My need a bladder for fuel like they do in the apache. Just thinking

could have made a difference at Isle of Mann this year..just saying

Thats a pretty interesting read logix, Ive delt the the molybdenum plasma spray coating on a twin turbo mustang I have and it holds up pretty darn well to 1k horsepower on the drag strip. Its a whole nother topic to itself but pretty cool if your into that kind of stuff

we do thermal spray processes here, both thermal barrier and wear resistant. Seen them spray thermal barrier on CF parts before

John422 I'd be interested in the CF Tail you have for sale. PM me the info if you still have it.
