i just swapped mine over and WOW!!! its so much better to run gp shift. it goes into the higher gears with ease now never a half or missed shift and i cant shift up faster.
LOVE IT!!!. it took about 10 mins to get used to

Thats pretty cool. I'm always interested in making my bike a little different. Is it a kit? Where did you get it and how much?

I know Pingel has an has an electric or air shifter set up for the Buells now. I always wondered how that would feel.

I dont want to shift with button though. How is that fun. I just want to reverse the shift. 1 up 4 down, that sort of thing.

hey everyone,
is this an expensive kit I have to buy or can you just re set your existing linkages in some crazy backwards way?
It does sound really fun but after just buying a new bike I'm kind of out of money.
thanks much

Sorry tbramich, I got the email from you (I think) a week or two ago....Switched it shortly after and love it!!!!

I've only made a couple mistakes, kicking up when I should be kicking down....old habits die hard.

This is the only thing that has kept me from doing this. I guess I could stay out of full race mode until I get completely used to it.

i would like to know how to do this too. my shifter shaft return spring seems to be on the blink. maybe when i replace the return spring, it would be a good time for this mod...

This is some info I found on the web if anyone has pics or more info for all it would be great for all buell riders. If this info is wrong please make changes as needed and repost thanks.

Prerequisites:

* Mechanical skills necessary: minimal
* Cost: $0
* Time needed: 5-10 minutes
* Tools needed:
o 3/8 wrench (yes, 3/8, you will find 10mm too small, and 11mm, while fitting, is slightly sloppy. This was found with a Craftsman tool set, so to each their own, but if you don't want to round it at all, go 3/8)

Process:

1. Remove bolt on shifter
2. Take shifting rod off shifter
3. Loosen bolt on connecting rod
4. Flip shifting rod so receiver is now on top of shifter
5. Sit on bike and adjust shift pedal to where it is in a comfortable range of motion for your foot/ankle/leg
6. Adjust connecting rod length to match range of motion for foot
7. Tighten both bolts
