I've been watching this baby closely. Has anyone else thought about getting one of these?

It's expensive $1400 for a helmet but man, I'm actually thinking about it.

I thought about it and was on the beta test list (didn't get one though). Until I saw the price... I think I'll wait.

The Skully is a cool idea, but I think they need to be able to sell it sub $700 to be worth worthwhile.

I have the Reevu helmet and love it.
I was thinking I'd buy one of these. But you don't get it until an estimated 2015. I can't see putting 1400 out and getting nothing until then. The price will most likely drop a short time after it's released.

I have been watching that too, one thing I can't get aroung is the fact that its on a Speed and Strength helmet. Nothing wrong with them but they are cheap helmets that are a good buy for the money. Will usually not be as comfortable as an Arai, Icon, or Shoei, and have wayyy more roadnoise in them. In fact they are known for it, which is fine for a 200 dollar helmet.
So not you gotta think, you are riding with a the road noise, visibility, weigh, comfort, and fogging abilities of a 200 dollar helmet, with a 1200 dollar safety system. When you could get two shoei rf1200s for that....not saying you should thats stupid, but I think you get my point. I'll definitely wait.....espcecially because I only have....none of that money hahah

A corner map display would be pretty nifty. I like the GPS part. The shifting tint face shield is pretty cool too. If only it was a tri-mode, tinted, clear, and yellow. That's something I wouldn't mind having. Other than that the speed display is the only other thing I would deem useful. It might save me from a few go fast certificates.
Honestly it's a cool idea but I'm not sure if I see the practicality in it. Or what about the unknown health risks? I'm not sure how I feel about having a powered battery radiating molecules within six inches of my brain for extended periods of time. Not to mention the constant flux of waves of information going to and from the helmet. Long term usage could yield long term damage that you wouldn't even know about for for possibly decades to come. Not trying to be paranoid or anything. Just kind of makes you wonder..
And what happens if you drop the damn thing? I bet the first time it makes ground contact you immediately gain a $1400 paperweight.
That being said. If I had a spare $1400 laying in my wallet and didn't give a **** I'd pick one up in a jiffy.
Personally I think it should have been set up as a Bluetooth device and ran via application rather than being a standalone device. That just makes more sense to me. Google should be coming out with google glass equipped visors soon anyways. Efficiently rendering this product obsolete. Cool idea though. But it's not ready. Just a stepping stone.

All I can say is...ITS ABOUT TIME. [up][up]. Cars and aircraft have had this for years if not decades and it seems that our chosen hobby or lifestyle is behind the curve a bit.
This all reminds me of a little(cheesy by today's standards)movie called Timerider from 1982 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timerider:_The_Adventure_of_Lyle_Swann). So it took us 30yrs to get there but still its a great step forward.
$1500 is a bit steep for my own wallet and I am kinda surprised that Schuberth hadn't done this already as I consider them the leader in tech helmets.
