Does anyone know if they make a right side air scoop that fits around the Micron Exhaust System on a 2007 city lightning?Cant seem to find one and not sure if that's cause they don't make one or I'm not looking in the right spot.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might want to check trojan horse they sell a low profile left and right side scoop that might work

*scratch that, I looked and none of them fit the micro exhaust*

I would say a custom aluminum one tig welded together for a finished look would be your best bet.

Maybe Lefox will post up, but I believe he was able to get rid of his by mapping his ECM. Probably cost less than a RSS too. ;)

Looks good, but I think the Micron exhaust might come out of the front high enough for it to be in the way?

It's flush with the frame. If the exhaust breaks the line below the frame, then you know it won't fit. Otherwise it should be ok.

I can understand why some people want to get the right side scoop for looks because it makes the bike look symmetrical and aestheticly soothing. But for functionality does it really make a difference?

Yeah, yeah....it makes the rear cyclinder run cooler, blah blah, but does anyone really have physical evidence or proof of long term damage to the rear cylinder from not having the right side air duct?

I know there are people on this forum with 45K + on their bikes that don't have problems. Do they have right side scoops? I know that Buell does extensive testing on all of their engines, components and bike assemblies. Anyone in the technical world can tell you that nobody ever just slaps something together and sells it without performing various types of environmental, safety and durability testing.

I'm just curious how much hotter could the rear cylinder run at cruising speeds? Has anyone ever seen data or acquired cylinder head temps from their bike while cruising? Another thing is when you aren't moving, the rear is probably cooler because of the cooling fan being so much closer to the rear cylinder. Just a few thoughts.....

I would bet my left pinky toe that the engineer who designed the left side air duct would tell you it is primarily used for the engine intake and not so much to cool the engine.

Mine has nothing to do with the engine intake whatsoever. That was the earlier year models, Pre-'06 maybe. After that model, the "duct" directs all air to the rear cylinder head.

yuma, this was already discussed here: click (http://www.buellxb.com/Buell-XB-Forum/Buell-Lightning-XB12S-XB12Ss-CityX-XB12Scg/Buell-aftermarket-parts/right-side-air-scoop-for-Buell/5)
in short...when your riding your normal way and your fan starts running, that means that your rear cylinder is running too hot.
the rh scoop will improve that by getting more air to that cylinder.

if you're running in cold weather and your fan doesn't run during normal use, don't fit the scoop.

the fan doesn't run cool air to the rear cylinder, it's there to suck/guide the hot air away from it.

the lh scoop is mainly for cooling...
the pre-'06 models had a completely closed airbox-cover thus needed the extra duct to get air in the airbox.
from '06 on, the airbox-covers were made with a mesh infront, near the fuel-cap, so the duct was closed and it became a pure cooling scoop.

chop, chop...i guess you just lost your left pinky toe :p;)

09XB12Ss are these aftermarket or did you add black ceramic coat on your headers?
