Just ordered the custom Firebolt seat from buellparts.net. Looks like it might be back ordered. Buellxb...any idea how long it will take? I am excited, and so is my ass!:)

Bitter, you HAVE to give a report on this seat! Brand new bike with only 600 KM and it's already looking like my ass isn't gonna make it through 6-8 hour days. Thanks, Wayne

Just got mine last week. Making a new way to install it cos I don't like the stock system, it kinda lends itself to crossthreading. I was also led to believe it would be a long wait but got it in less than a week. I rode with the stock seat for 5,000 miles and I'm already loving the new one. Glad I bought it. Thanks buellxb ;)

I have the seat and the pins in my bike. It is well worth the money the comfort difference is amazing. As far as the ease of removal with the pins a quick slip and it's off.

How do those quick pins fasten to the bike? I already have one side that is stripped...can I still use them?

They screw in, I had A stripped one and used JB weld to glue it in, works so far.

I just bought some of the quick pins myself. In the picture it is hard to tell what is going on. Basically the post you see the pin through is threaded into the subframe with the seat off. Then when you put the seat on, the post slides throught the bolt hole, then you put the clip through the post so the seat cannot be pulled up.

Just got my seat in today. That was fast! The seat looks great, and I can tell it is going to be a huge improvement....however, I lost a few inches to the ground. Sux being short. Anyway, I will report back with my findings after a nice ride later today.

As for the quick pins...I am going to probably get them, but $20 seems a bit high for something that simple. Any of you handy guys out there make them for cheaper??

You could probably modify your stock seat bolts. Just find some nuts that fit them, to use as jam nuts. Cut the head off, then drill a hole through the bolt and find some of those clips. I don't know that it is worth the time and effort. You might save $10 but whatever floats you boat.

I'll be installing my homegrown system Sunday night. Not quite as 'quick relase' as that but much cheaper. I'll try to post a picture by Monday. BTW, just retap them if there a little stripped. Mine are 1/4-20.

I wanted to just retap it, however the aluminum insert spins around. Need to JB weld and then tap I belive...just too lazy to do it right now.[smirk]

@bitter rod - Glad to hear that your seat came fairly quick. The seats are made by a specific company that owns the rights from Buell/H-D, and they do not inventory anything. They actually make the seat when the order is placed. We do everything to ship as fast as possible from BuellParts.NET and we understand that communication is the key. ;)[up]

About a 3 hour ride yesterday on the new seat. First impression...worth every penny! Very happy with the seat. Had another small break down, but luckily was right in front of a auto service center. $15 later I was back on the road. It was a good day! Buellxb....thanks!

I think I need to order that seat. The stock seat on my '04 is a beast.

They dont make the seats any more, eBay or ask around to see if someon ehas a used one. You can go with a Baldwin or Corbin seat though.

You may be able to get XPC Racing to make a seat for it. THey are in California and seem to make a good product. www.xpcracing.com
