I recently bought an '04 firebolt. I noticed at the time it was missing one of the driver seat bolts. I pulled it off to find a replacement bolt and found out the bracket had been cut off. The front loop that the seat clips into. Anyone have any idea why this was done?

The bolts do hold the seat on but I can't imagine why anyone would have cut it off. Perhaps to aid in taking the seat off, or removing the battery or to access the shock adjustment? None of that makes sense to me.

Probably broke off, they had a tendency to break or be screwed up.
If you need another subframe I know where you can get one

It was definately ground down. Not sure if it was bent or broken before. I'm not going to replace the whole subframe over it. The two bolts do a fine job of holding it on.

Thank you for the input UMD. I know very little about these bikes, except how much fun it is to ride!
