My am new to the Buell life. I bought a Buell and the license plate is bent upwards towards the u seaside of the bike. I want to add an led strip to light it up. What wires do I tap into in the tail of the bike. Last time I tried I was blowing fuses and lost all lights until new fuse was installed. I also want to get a light to have it strobe when I hit the breaks then stay on. What brand is good and what wires aswell can I tap into for that one.

Sorry about my spelling. Some of it did not come out the way I meant it to.

Welcome to the forum!

Use the wires that go to the OEM plate light.

I use THIS (http://www.radiantz.com/products#!/Brake-Strobe-Standard/p/39306434) for my brake light. It wires in-line with the OEM wires.

Wouldn't that be the same as the brake light. Especially with it just having a clear bottom on the tail light lense. I thought it was one bulb for both things.

On the Lightning there is a separate light (and wires) that go to the plate mount. Either way, you need 12v ignition power for that wherever it comes from.

at one point, I used the stock light turned backwards to shed onto the plate

I would say go to xblights and order one of their taillights if you want it done right. Complete plug and play, and worth every penny. You can do it the right way or the cheap way.

The xblights taillight won't solve this problem as the plate is bent back... There are a few options on ebay - take some time to search. In my experience, the led bolts are a last resort as they do not light up the plate in its entirety.

Maybe something like this - http://www.ebay.com/itm/K-S-25-9170-LED-LICENSE-PLATE-LIGHT-12v-/310747893498?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item485a048efa&vxp=mtr

Or even cheaper - http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-LED-Waterproof-Universal-Motorcycle-Bike-Scooter-Micro-Rear-Number-plate-Light-/171655332526?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27f77482ae&vxp=mtr

Sirius is right. But you could always scrap what the previous owner did and put on a nice diesel moto fender eliminator. That with the xblights led taillight would be nice. I'm running the jardine fender eliminator on my 1125cr and it works great with my led taillight.
