Not a big fan of halos usually, but I think they look pretty good on a firebolt so I was thinking about putting them on my 03 xb9r. The only question I have, and its probably dumb, do the stock headlights still work or is it just a halo then? Was looking at these Halos (http://www.motorcyclehidlights.com/buell-firebolt-xb9r-hid-lights-c-69_442/buell-xb9r-firebolt-ccfl-halo-kit-2003-2009-p-596)

And I guess the better question is can I bypass the low beam somehow so its not always on?

Yes, the stock headlights will still work. And yes, you can bypass the low beam by simply disconnecting it and then switching it on with a different switch. Maybe use the high beam switch to turn on the low beams and the have a completely separate switch for the high beam.

A 20A SPST switch inline with the low beam (+) wire would do it.

Cut the low beam (+) wire and put the headlight end on one of the terminals, put the other part of the cut wire (and the Halo (+)) on the other terminal. Ground the other halo wire and presto! One way will be stock operation, the other way will be halos only, the high beam will always work like stock.
The link didn't say what the halos draw but it's probably much >5amps. Not enough to need a fuse upgrade, but that's on you to check:p

Wouldn't you want the headlights on a separate switch anyway? This would be to turn them on after the bike has started. Then the ballasts wont be prone to have problems.

^If you are running HID headlights, then possibly. I used that technique on my old Firebolt. The new one didn't get the switched low beam and no issues so far. Many other users doesn't switch the low beam either when running HIDs.

With the ccfl's - I don't know. I venture to say they'd be okay. Many BMW owners run then as "upgrades" without being switched.
