Tail Light burnt out

So I got pulled over the other night and the officer informed me that the bulb burnt on my tail light. So I went to advance auto the next day and bought a bulb (Sylvania 7528). I thought I solved the problem but when my friend and I went on a ride he told me that my brake light just stayed on constantly. The bulb is a dual element so I thought it would work. Any insight would be appreciated.

Good question. I was wondering what the right bulb was. I asked early about the 1157 and was told that would work but to look for a higher wattage. I looked at the one on my bike now (bought the bike from a previous owner) The bulb he has in there is a Stanley P21/5W. It works fine but wish it as a little brighter.
