I know I murdered the spelling on that. Well heres the story.

Went for a ride last thursday with the fellas. As we started up to come back I noticed about a mile down the road my Check Engine light was on. So I stopped, cut it off, turned it back on, the light went off with the fuel pump. Started up just fine, 5 seconds, lights back on. So I take it into the Stealership[mad] Friday expecting a $150 diagnoses and they lay it on me for free. Swell guys in the tech shop and Wenatchee Harley. And he said the code was for my exhaust actuator, I believe is how he phrased it. Now I know how to get to the end under the airbox and Ill check it out today after work. But Im worried it might be on the exhaust end. Iv heard many of you have disconnected yours if u switched to the Drummer or other aftermarkets, and the Tech(Gene) told me I can ride without hurting the bike, but it needs to get taken care of. So any suggestions? Id like to do it myself if possible just to expand my knowledge of my own bike and all but understand if I cant, Imma have to take it into the shop, or have my drummer moved up a bit now that overtime is coming in. Anyhow there is the story.

Get ecmspy, check the box that turns the exhaust valve off. Wire the valve open or replace the exhaust and remove the actuator from the air box and cable.

check to see what part it is...if you're changing exhaust anyway, just do what nub said.

If it's the servo you're referring to, I'm sure plenty of people have one laying around that you could pick up for cheap.

ASB has a servo eliminator

Here is a link (http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-prodshow/9313.html), you'll need it if you don't want it throwing a code anymore.

Seen lots of posts where the emulator doesn't last very long. I'd go the ECMSpy route, like Nub suggested......so easy a caveman could do it. :D

Does it keep the code from getting thrown? I thought it just disables the servo

Yeah, going the ECMSpy route, the ECM would be re-programmed to no longer "look" for the exhuast servo, so no CEL & no codes.

Oh ok, I thought it just held the valve open. Nevermind the eliminator then. But he could still get a servo for cheap.

An ecmspy cable is the first mod anyone should buy for their Buell. Even if you plan on keeping the bike stock and have no intention of tuning, you can't go wrong with the purchase since you have the ability to do your own TPS resets, check error codes, and put a check mark on boxes in this case to solve your problems.

From what I understand ECMSpy still cant communicate with 08 ECM. And as my Firebolt is an '08 that route may be out.

where do you get ecm spy software and cables? Software - ECMSpy.com

Cables - Ebay, some on here occasionally, Americansportbike.com, or DIY. If ebay, just search ECMSpy Cable.

Contact XOPTIINSIDE, Mike uses an assistant program to remap 08's. I don't know the entire process, but he is eager to help out fellow bullers....
