I'm looking at laptops so I can join the ECMspy revolution. Can anyone give me an idea of what I need in A laptop up to $2000.

depends on what else your going to use it for. I have the EeePC 1000H and it works great. It was only $300 when I bought it. This little thing rocks, I hooked up wifi in the house and handed the desktop over to the wife and kid. I need nothing else. As for ecmspy and dataloging anything relatively new will work, its not a heavy program to run.

You really don't need anything at all except for windows XP and a usp port. I have the EEEpc 900a. I've seen it for as low as $150

I don't really do any thing except play Command& conquer, order parts, check E mail and XB forum. Those sound great, not familiar with EEEpc, where can I find them?

The EEEpc I have is a "netbook" which are perfect for traveling, but not so good for everyday use. It is VERY tiny, mine only has a 8.9" screen. Here is a link (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220355)

Lenovo, which is basically IBM make GREAT computer and are very decently priced. I highly recommend Lenovo. Here is a link (http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/na/LenovoPortal/en_US/special-offers.workflow:ShowPromo?LandingPage=/All/US/Landing_pages/Promos/Ideapad-laptops-for-home-and-home-office) for a few inexpensive, but well performing Lenovos.
