View Full Version : Looking for XB12R in good shape - ready to buy

I'd like to find a late ('08 or newer preferred) XB12R (or S, for that matter) with relatively low miles for a fair price.

I'm able to buy immediately if the right bike comes along (as in: once we've agreed on a price, I'm good for it...there won't be any "after the fact" waffling or anything like that).

So what's the "right bike"? First, I don't need a project. I've done that already. I'm looking for a mechanically perfect, aesthetically (at least) excellent bike that won't require anything once I buy it except ordinary scheduled maintenance. I'm really not interested in something that's going to take body work, deep cleaning, repainting, etc. Been there, done that...don't have time to do it again.

Secondly, the price needs to be fair with respect to the market. I'm more active over on BOR and Badweb...and I'm just using the guidelines that the "smart" folks seem to have for what is reasonable. I guess I'm saying that as much as I want an XB and am ready to buy, I don't "need" another bike. So I'm happy to wait for just the right one. I'd just like to have another Buell to complement the Blast as well as ride and maintain for the foreseeable future (perhaps even hand down to my son). These bikes are just too good to let die, and I really take care of things (in fact, I'm probably affected by some form of OCD given the way I work to keep things) - I hope that makes sense.

Lastly - location is important. I'm in southwestern VA...and I'd like to find something that wouldn't take more than 6 hours to reach. 4 hours or less would be optimum.

Thanks in advance if someone sees a link on C/L or elsewhere and forwards it to me - I'll definitely check those out and report back.

Oh - I should add that I have impeccable internet feedback for selling or buying...as in perfect. I don't B/S, and I don't play games. I'm a serious buyer that wants to do more than kick tires. My username is the same across a number of forums, including some musically based ones (talkbass, thegearpage, etc.). In ALL of them not one person has had anything to complain about with respect to my financial dealings.

www.dailylister.com , check it a couple times a day to ensure you are the one of the first to see the listing. That's how I found mine.

So - have an offer out on a 2009 XB12....which would include transportation to me....if the logistics fall in place, I could perhaps have it this week.

We'll see how it all plays out.

Picked up the trailer today to load it up on Saturday. I'm replacing all the light bulbs in the trailer's housings for the guy loaning me the thing....he's really saving my bacon...

Where in VA are you located ? I have a 05 xb12r in Lexington. Very rarely see any other Buells on the road. Lol

I'm in Christiansburg....not too far away from you at all...

My update is that the pick up is now going to be on Sunday - I'll actually ride the bike home from Statesville (NC) given the weather...

Any advice - I'm used to commuting for long periods of time, but this will be my first time around on a Firebolt - would love any wisdom. My wife is following in the car, and we'll plan on stopping after 50-60 miles or so (about 140 miles home).

Keep the weight off your wrists and you can easily make the 140 miles home without stopping. I doubt you'll have any issues. [up]

I'm in harrisonburg va. Go to leesburg fairfax on occasion to ride with buddy up there. If you wanna ride let me know, although I have yet to see a decent road in nova compared to me being surrounded by mountains.

Agreed - the roads here in the mountains are not too shabby....don't know if I'd really be interested heading to nova to ride much :-)

Agreed on nova. Just saying I'm willing to ride a little to meet up with fellow vtwin guys. All inline 4s here in the valley.

Cool - let me get used to the bike and a ride (or 2 or 3) together would be awesome....
