Bought and installed race ecm this weekend... install it and turn key on, then engine light comes on then goes off like normal wait 5 more seconds and light comes back on again. go to start the bike and bike runs poor with the engine light still on. ran a code reading and says EEPROM failure.... anyone tell me what this means?

Where did you get the ECM? If it's used, maybe someone screwed it up. Maybe someone on here can give you their EEPROM from their race ECM

Hey MillerBuell,

Have you checked the part # and compatibility with your bike. I think the 03 & 04 xb9s are the same, but the 05-07 are different.

If that isn't it, I would guess someone previous has screwed it up.

got the ECM off ebay. guy said it was for 03-04 XB9. the number on the race ecm reads 32801-02Y. ya i'm pretty pissed off if the previous dude sold me a junk ecm. was gonna call harley and ask if the part number works with my bike just to make sure. o and also i have a 03 XB9S. you guys know anything bout the #??

I don't right off hand. A dealer should be able to help you out tomorrow tho...

Found this posted on another forum. I would still check with the dealer to make sure:

Part Number 32814-02YA Race ECM for the XB9 works on 2003-2004 XB9S and XB9R models. Part Number 82007-05Y works on 2005-later XB9S
