WHY IS BUELL STILL MAKING A 900 CC? IS THERE ANY ADVANTAGE TO THE 900 CC VS. THE 1200CC? AND VICA VERSA. SPECIFICALLY, THE LIGHTENING CITY XB9SX. ANY WORD?
The 9's rev faster and higher then the 12's so that is one of the explication some people do prefer the 9's over the 12's. I myself prefer the 12's but it's all in the taste.

THX FOR THE INFO AND QUICK RESPONSE. I AM CONSIDERING AN XB12S, YET REALLY LIKE THE LOOK OF THE CITYX XB9SX. ANY THOUHGTS?
I'm looking to get a xb12s too. I tried the xb9s and 12s and liked both the 9s actually surprised me when the front wheel got airborne shifting in second gear without even trying. I do prefer the 12s for the loads of torque and I'm no fan of the clear body work.

You can buy any color body kit and swap it out later, and i'm pretty sure that you can fit the handguards, pucks, and headlight grill on any S model. Personally I like the carbon fiber, for about the same money you can switch to that. I got a steal on my xb12ss, its sunset orange (body and wheels) I think its too much color personally, and not my favorite. So I'll save up some cash and switch to CF, might leave the wheel color stock, dunno yet[confused].

the 9 is a bit more agile/stable at lower speeds. also, because it's less "nervous" down under, in combination with the higher redline, makes it a more suited bike for innercity traffic.

"WHY IS BUELL STILL MAKING A 900 CC?" - The same reason Suzuki makes a GSX-R600, 750, 1000, & 1300. Something for everyone and all tastes are different. The XB9 is a smaller engine size (usually lower insurance rates - under 1000cc) and different power band. At 984cc, it's a real strong contender and fun bike. Advantage / disadvantage over a 12? Rider preference and pocketbook. It would be boring if Buell only made one bike.

the 900 is probably cheaper on the insurance too

USAbikesrule,I agree. Everyone has different tastes when it comes to riding. I prefer having a 1203 because it has torque from start to red-line and beyond. I rode a Firebolt that was only a 900 and I loved the quick reving action and sound it had,but I was dissapointed with the lack of high-end power. As soon as I hit 6000rpms in any gear,it was totally out of juice :(

I beg to differ, maybe it's the set-up but my XB9s pulls from 4200 all the way to the rev limiter. I've run with a XB12 and my mate's X1, which is a 1200, and have no problems hanging with them. :D
The set up is Race ECM, Jardine RT1 exhaust can, and a modified air box.
