http://users.telenet.be/mdr/fun/smiley/welcome.gif to the Forum Rich!! Finally, a fellow Kentuckian. How far north are you? I'm in London, KY myself. They're actually opening a New HD Dealership very soon. Glad to have you on board and ride safe.

I like the blacked out look as well as many other people do. I am not sure yet if I like the belt guards gone. I have seen several with this done. What are we trying to accomplish by doing this? I am just curious. I for one do not like the idea of the exposed belt. Ever been caught in a chain? I have. It sucks. The belt probably wouldnt be as bad though. If any one could enlighten me on the removing the belt guards I would appreciate it.

Other wise, super nice bike man. Keep the rubber side down.:D

People remove the belt guard(s) solely for cosmetic purposes only. By doing so, it allows you to see the rear wheel better, less clutter, and gives it a cleaner look as well.

No HP gains or anything mechanical, just looks :)

Personaly I took mine off because I think it just adds to the minimalist look. I like the guards on the Scg but on mine it looked kinda big and square to me. Getting caught in a belt or chain would suck really bad.... never thought of that [sad]

Thanks for the compliments- I got all my ideas from bikes on this site:)[up]

Welcome and great lookin' bike.. I wasn't really much of an SS fan.. but the blacked out SS is starting to convince me otherwise!! Keep it Up!

Dont wear shoes with ties for that reason. I wear zip up boots. When I got caught I was riding on the back of my dads bike and got a pants leg caught up in the chain. Pretty much ripped me off of the bike. Hurt like hell too.

Ever gone to put your foot down at a corner and your shoelace is caught on your footpeg? You fall over and look like an asshole. Been wearing boots ever since, lol Wayne

Nice strips on that back tire, only a little bit more to go. I can tell you REALLY ride the bike
(or someone before you did)

Got it new last year, I'm trying like hell to get it over all the way!! I still have a lot to learn about riding.
