I have a line on a 2003 xb9r from my local harley dealer. They will sell it to me for $6092 out the door. it has only 76 miles on it, they said they lost in when they moved from their old location. And it has a sport tuned aftermarket exhaust on it installed by buell. I am holding out for $5500, but it looks like if i don't get it today that i will lose it. Oh yeah, it is white with the orange buell graphics on the tank.

just tell me what you think.

Sounds like a good deal to me. I bought a 03 XB9R with 5000 miles on it for $5600, but that is with my employee discount because I work at a dealer. The price sounds reasonable with the add ons and the mileage, but always try for a lower price without losing it.

Tell them you'll pay $6500 but you want them to install the 06 and later belt and pulleys [up][up]

I've read that most of the problems with the older belts snapping were the result of twisting when changing the rear tire by non-professional owners. Also, the newer Hibrex belts are better.
Buell has shown a consistent improvement history due to customer input and R&D like no other company. Remember that Erik Buell is not a mere businessman, he's a racer, enthusiast and an engineer who gave up a lucrative job in the Aerospace industry cos he wanted to build bikes. When you love what you do it shows. I attribute any bad business practices to the fact that Harley owns 98% of the company. The Buell team is small and receptive, and I'm glad I made the switch from HD.

Is the bike un-titled and considered new? If so you'll get the 2 year warrantee. That was the deciding factor for us. Beth's bike is an '05 XB12Scg that had seen a few demo rides and had 230 miles on the clock, and was purchased 6 weeks ago for just under 8000. I think there are some real deals to be had on leftover bikes, but I suppose that holds true not just for Buells.

yeah, it is un-titled and considered new, but my salesman says that the factory warrantee is out.

Doesn't make sense... the warrantee goes from the date of sale, not the date of manufacture.

Hmm....it must have been titled once then.

hi guys, wanted to thank you for all the help. I just got it last night. I love it. It turns out he was wrong and it did come with the limited warranty, he found that out because i asked him to check and see if there were any recalls on it and he found one, and found that it is covered. So now i just need to find some nice twisties to practice in :)

WOO HOO! Congrats

+1

I can attest that any bad taste you get in your mouth from owning a Buell will be a result of the "Harley Dealership" and not from the people at Buell! I just came from the Buell Homecoming and after talking to many employees and Erik himself I must say that these are people who care about the customer and the Buell name.

yeah, the guys i dealt with at Harley were just, um, dicks, to be blunt, but i love the bike and i am so pleased with my self that i got this over the '06 katana 600 i was looking at.
