I have been working on this for six-months plus.

Today I down loaded the '04 XB12 Race Eeprom, reset the TPS and she fired right up!!

Hey dave,

I need to resolve the air cleaner question, plus the ECM is still learning.

Just as soon as the air cleaner is answered, I'll be riding!!

Just put a blower scoop on it and put it on top of your air box cover. That way every one knows its not your normal motorcyle then.:D
Looks good. Keep us updated as you make progress. +1[up]

Maybe you could put a right angle on both stacks, then T them together to 1 cone filter? You may have to cut the stacks down.

Dont forget to relocate the MAF sensor! Its important for the ECM's learning. It should be intake reading air pressure

dave,

If you're talking about the black unit on the T/B (MAF), my '04 does not have one. The '06 VRod Throttle Body had one and it looked like the Buell's, so this setup should support the later XB's.

I just removed it and filled the area.

I'm talking about the mass air flow sensor mounted inside the original filter. Its important that its mounted in the intake [up]

My understanding is that is an air temp. sensor, I could be mistaken.

GatorBuell

Yep thats the IAT inlet air temp sensor. It tells the ecm how much to add for the cold start enrichment and the ambient air temp for the AVF corrections.

That is an air temp sensor. Good work point doc. I've been following this on the other forum. I'm glad to see it all come together.

Someone should sticky this temporarily until this project is finished. It might be a good reference for someone else to do the same thing if it works out positively.

I like this project! Is there a chance that you would put it on a dyno when finished? I'd like to see what kind of gains you'll get...

Some more pics would satisfy me for now.

Looking good. Keep us updated.

I currently am thinking about a dyno, I also would like to see if there is any gains.

Pics NP, I have many. I could post the entire process with pics or you could be more specific with what you would like to see.

I'm dumb. I always thought it was the MAF and we didnt have a temp sensor.

That is awesome, I always thought the Buell throttle bodies seemed a bit small..

This projected started from the idea that I would like to someday install a "Big Bore" kit.

During the research of kits, I concluded that the OEM fueling system may be in question in its ability to support this mod.

This is my solution to the fueling question.

man what a cool steam-punky looking mod this is, not to mention potential power/torque gains. Can you point us to a build thread if you've got one on another forum? Or a photo album?

Unless Jeremy says otherwise, which I've never seen him do, I don't see anything wrong with it. Sharing good knowledge, no matter what the source, especially when it's helping others out is what it's about in my book.

so is there a xb12 throttle body and injectors forsale?
Wonders if there would be an improvment on a xb9?
and yes very cool[up]

Hey RT,

I don't have one, but there is a few guys on the link that is posted for the other Buell site with owners putting on the 12 TB on the 9 and getting 5 horse increase!!

One guy posted up the dyno sheet with the 5 horse increase.

I suspect that this mod "may" become a standard mod for 9 owners.

I made these Vortex Nipples and secured them to the inside of the air cleaner.

when you say you made the vortex nipples, what exactly was your process? I'm in the middle of making some myself by moulding the original and casting copies.

I designed/modeled one using a Cad/Cam system and then I generated a tool path and then posted the CNC program for the Lathe.

The material I used is Delrin.

nice work, I was thinking about going that route too but a silicone mould of the original is working for casting resin ones right now. It would work for casting thermoplastic too if I had a way to heat it up to melting...

I just received a call from Terry at JT&S Performance and he asked me if I wanted the good news or the good news!

I just smiled and said well, either the later or former one will work for me.

He stated that once the bungs where in and he could get a reading, that the adjustments he made responded typically as a Buell should and that within 15 minutes he was able to get the bike to idle normally.

Terry seems very optimistic that next week I should have a running bike.
