I've searched the forum for any info about the 18 LED turn signals that are commonly found on Ebay but havent found my answer. Do you guys know if they would function correctly on our bikes or would it have a faster than normal flash rate like I've seen from other aftermarket turn signals?

I don't have any experience with those, but this relay will help if you have "hyper-flashing" that sometimes accompany LED turn signals: ASB Flasher Relay (http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-prodshow/16086.html.)

I have LED front and rear signals and had the different relay but went back to stock because it is more of an attention grabber when it flashes fast.

My GF has the slower relay since she likes it better but it comes down to preference.

Yeah, I need led's also, esp. out here in the hot desert of the valley. But I tell ya, there's some good riding here man.

If any of you replaced your stock turn signal lights with LED's, were you able to
find any that fit the exisiting holes? I've only found ones with larger threaded stems....?

I know it's dead topic, but better than opening a new one to the same subject.

I got the cat eye turn signals, and they flash freneticly, it may be ignorance, but where is the relay to the turn signals located?
I know we have 4 relays in the fuse box, but they have completely different plugs than the flasher above.
Help me please

Vitor, What model of bike do you have? If it's Firebolt then the flasher relay is located under the front fairing. (essentially above the headlights to the right side (Bike's right side, your left if you're standing in front of the bike)

Hey Eagle,
Mine is a City Cross, but as you said Bolt has it located under the front fairing I figured I'd look under the front fly screen and there it was.
I'm going to arrange a flasher soon!
Thanks a lot!

Can anyone talk about how these are connected? Are they plug and play?

For some reason Buell used a wacky pin pattern on their flasher that is the reverse of standard. If you want a normal flash for LEDs, make a set of three 1.5" jumpers with 16 ga wire. Put a male spade connector on one end of each and a female spade connector on the other end of each. Just flip~flop the paired pins from a new three pin electronic auto flasher to the plug, odd pin to odd pin, test, and zip~tie everything away. I did it two years ago and it's not required my attention since.

I took my buell flasher and went to the auto parts store (pep boys) and I just found a led flasher with the same plug. I think the one that i got is for a nissan and it works perfectly. I figure $8.00 is better than $20 from asb and I didn't have to pay for s/h and wait a week. I am cheap and impaitent.:D

I also bought the cheap 18led turn signals from ebay and had no issues with fitment. I think I paid 18.00 for all 4, they came from Japan but only took 1 week to get here.

I bought these for my front and rear. Really a big improvement over stock. All i did was buy a ep36 led flasher from autozone. I did have to buy a bigger plug since the ones on the buell are larger and the new turn signals are a smaller plug. Takes 10 secs to crimp the bigger one on. I can post pics with them on the bike if you want.

I just put led's on my ;09 CityX, with resistors for each signal. 3 of them work just fine, but the left rear one comes on with the ignition and just stays on..no flashing. Are there individual relays for each signal? I tried hooking up the stock light again and it doesn't flash either. I know you brainiacs have the answer..unfortunately I'm not one of you guys. Thanks for the help

Just got these; pretty good quality. My complaint would be the length about 4inches of wire.

Some guy's use relays. I used one dual load equalizer. It's easier to install. It also corrects the signal for front and back.

pm me if you need tips or are still stuck.

I have these. Shopped around a while for them. They actually have real aluminum posts. :D

anybody have your led turn signals stay on constant after installing a new 3 pin led flasher relay? Could it be a bad relay? Any help appreciated.

Im having the same problem, anyone have a picture of their relays? Im getting so tired or wiring. Is the relay from ASB just plug-in-play?

I have had the same problem with relay's in the past. I am not an electrical genius so I just went with a dual load equalizer. SDC is a good brand and works great.

Hey BuellyBagger,

Did that relay work for you as well? I just installed some Rizoma turn signals (which required no wire cutting...nice) and they blink fast.

Will order the stellio listed as well...

Cheers!

PixeIronin,
Rizoma's came with the resistors. You do not need anything.

As I'm new to motorcycles and electrical modifications of any kind. I'm a little confused on what to do for my flasher issue. Got cut off the other day and ended up having my 09 xb12r lay on its pegs and left signal (front) I'm unsure whether to buy OEM if it's easier or to get some different signals all together. Signal still works but the plastic screen over the bulb broke a clip.. For the LED blinkers. What am I looking at having to do? Just screw in the new ones and swap negative and positive cables and their a new relay on? I appreciate any help at all fellas.

If you choose to replace them, no big deal. Order the ones you like and attach a crimp-able electric connected pin from any Autozone or Orileys. They crimp with a special tool or pliers. Tool is better. Cut off one of the connectors and bring it to the store. I like hyper-flash, gets people's attention. If you are having issues they have in line devices that connect with a pair of pliers and a second of time.

The old one is held on with a nut, remove nut and take it off. Reverse to install.

So that if the basic process for putting any blinker on regardless LED or not? Seems easy enough. Hyper flash is the blink speed? Or is that a brand?

Zackr91
06-08-2016, 05:39 PM
I see hyper blink is just the speed in which it blinks. Is that governed by the relay or will a relay just normalize the speed? I wouldn't mind hyperblink but the rear blinkers wouldn't be hyper if I got a set just for the front... Lol
