I am having some difficulties with ECMSpy and was hoping that someone here has had similar experiences and could offer some advice.

I received the cable, installed ECMSpy and the appropriate drivers and can't seem to hold a communication link between my computer and the bikes' ECM.

On startup of program, I switch my COM port under "Communications" to the appropriate one that I have installed the drivers for. Under the "MAPS" tab, when I click "Fetch MAPS", I get an error that says
"Transmission Timed Out".

This is the same when I try to Fetch EEPROM as well.

There is an occasional communication when I click the ECM Query tab. This loads information into the Overview tab. Here's what I get:

(Notice the Air Temp and Engine Temps!! It hasn't been running in weeks)

Running the query sometimes gives my information in the ECM Runtime Tab. This is what I get:

I am occasionally able to get my trouble codes as well as shown here:

9 out of 10 times I try to communicate with the ECM I get an error that says "Failed to get Firmware Version...exiting now!"

I am able to run through the Diagnostic Checklist however.

Any ideas of what I might be doing wrong? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I know this my sound stupid but do you have your key and run switch on. Try running auto detect on your comport setting. And make sure you depress the Keys button on.

I figured it out. I didn't correctly install the drivers. Reinstalled and communicating nicely now. Now to fix the TPS.
