So I picked up my XB12ss today...I LOVE IT! Was just wondering, I find it a little jerky when going slow (if one's not smooth on the throttle), it this normal?

Absolutely. There is no way to be smooth on these things under 2500 RPM.

Mine stays running best if the bulk of my riding is above 3500.

I thought that too when I first got mine. Its really sensitive...especially when you start a turn from a complete stop. You'll get used to it after a bit and you wont even notice.

Same here. I thought is was unusual. I found I could reduce it by using premium gas and driving it hard. Basically your Buell is telling you... STOP BEING A PUSS AND DRIVE ME! :D j/k

mines the same seems a little better once it heats up, i did cut more holes in the air cover , and noticed a little poping coming from there now

I find mine seems to lurch or better yet "pulsate" just slightly when going around 60 k/h (sorry you Americans, no m/h here), almost feels like little dips or bumps in the road but its not. You guys find that too or am I just oober fussy/picky?...thats what my Dad says!

I think that's the nature of the beast. You have a motor with lots of torque on a 395 lb sport bike. The belts are really tight and don't have the slop of some chains. The cams in these bikes must be pretty crazy. Try tightening up the rear spring and you probably won't feel the jerk as much. Keep in mind I'm speaking from a not so Buell-tech savvy perspective.

I hope your not saying that you don't really like Buells?

No, I'm not saying that at all. I'm just saying I'm not a mechanic so don't take my word for gold.

Yeah my 1200XBSS has a 1000 mi on it now. It is a little jerky with airbox chatter when trying to stay under the 25mph speed limit in my little town. It feels like a stallion that is raring to go. It sounds and feels like a high cam race motor that wants to run faster. I like it actually. When the tach climbs above 3-3.5K it really comes alive. It is a really nice ride imo. TnTnTn[up]

I've noticed that if I use second gear its a bit smoother. Try that if you have to go slow. Just be careful not to lug the engine. Keep the rpms moving. 2.5 to 3 thousand seems to be a good spot. Course, I have 5000+ miles, so that probably plays a part in it. Give it a try though. Just don't lug that new engine!! (not a good thing...)
