Anyone else have issues with the transmission vent tube that runs between the cylinders around the back of the rear header? I think this is poorly designed. I took it to the dealer and they already replaced it once. It burned through again. I respliced it and wrapped it with heat shielding for $10. Looks like crap, but hope it works. I think this may be why water got into the clutch? The dealer had to replace the needle bearing, inner race and hub.

I thought about doing that. Will water get in if you ride in the rain?

My 09XT was melted, I wrapped the header, so im thinking it happened prior to the wrapping. Ok i'm guilty of not catching it since I wrapped the header and slid the wrap up the pipe to as far as it would go. Then again I don't feel bad since the mechanics doing the 1,000 mile service didn't catch it either.
Since the wrap didn't cause the melting the shop replaced it under warranty.
It appears worn thru, but was extremely brittle.

you got lucky with the replacement because normally they'll try and find anything to not replace a part under warranty

Mine burned through as well. From the factory they are zip tied out of the way but after they replaced my rocker box gaskets they didn't redo the zip tie.
