Today I was riding around my town, it was like 30 c (80 F), I wasn't going fast so my engine was getting very hot (I could feel it on my legs). When I got home and shut the bike off for a bit, I heard a bubbling sound coming from the rear swingarm, it sounded like the oil was boiling in the pan. I called the Harley Dealership right aways and they said it was TOTALLY normal simply because the bike is mostly air cooled the oil has to take the brunt of all the heat in the engine, they said with the Harley 's they even have people who can feel it through their seats!
Anybody ever experience this beofre with their Buell?

I checked my oil after a ride the other day and it was full of bubbles. It takes a beating for sure.

Good reason to change oil/filter more often -- especially in hot weather. [up]

I guess when it get so hot like that the oil will tend to break down fast huh?

Yes I did today, thanks to this thread I'm not so worried anymore. I just came homr from a ride and it's hot out there and I went to check the bike and I could hear the oil boiling in the oil swing arm. Never heard it before but I rode about 100 miles in 85 degree weather and its very humid. The bike ran fine no problems just heard the boiling and wanted to make sure it was normal.

Not saying its not normal, but I live in Texas and ride in temps in the high 90s and I've never heard that before. I may have simply not noticed though?

I live in Alabama and the temp during the summer can get pretty hot but never had my oil get hot enough to boil.

never heard that from my bike and regularly ride in temps over 100 deg in the summer.

Ditto. After an 80 mile run at about 70-80mph, in up to 103 degrees last weekend on I-17 in Arizona, the oil in my XB was at 200 degrees.

I will find small bubbles in my oil tank, but I am pretty sure that they are there because the scavenge pump picks up a little air with the oil, as it should.

small bubbles in my oil tank,
agree i check mine after a hard ride (to see if im burning ne under high heat and heavy loads)and find these, but never actually heard ne "boiling" sound. If ur not buring oil or the bike isnt shutting down a cyclinder bcuz of over heat im bettin ur fine.

Ya the bike ran good no problems and no check engine lights, I dont think its ever gotten that hot before or I've never noticed the boiling sound. I happened to be bent down by the oil resvoir and thats when I heard it. Its not like I could hear it across the room or anything lol it boiled tho for 5 min or so but never lost power or anything. I think what caused it was the cruise through town after the highway run. Sitting at those lights in 85 degree weather I'm sure they get quite hot. But fan was running

I wonder if it wasn't actually fuel that you heard. The back of the fuel tank is not far from the oil tank.
I don't think oil will boil until around 500 degrees.

A good reason to use ester based synthetic oil.

It could have been fuel if the tank is that close to the oil tank, yeah I run Amsoil in it lol

The vent tube of the gas tank exits just besides the oil tank ... may be the noise is coming from there ?
