Just wondering if anyone can tell me how to identify if my bike does actually contain the race kit. Maybe a photo of the ecu? And where is it? I'm new to bikes, bought my first one (03 buell xb9s) from the dealer used. They sold it to me and said it had the "race kit" Any help or info is greatly appreciated. It has a dual exit muffler...

The muffler is definately race kit. The ECM is behind the flyscreen at the front of the bike. If you take a look at the ECM, it should say on there if it is or not. Other than that the air filter should be different also.

you guys seem to get the buell pretty easy with the (out of production) race muffler...pretty damn hard to get a buell race muffler for the 12 here! [sad]

say, is that a painted frame or a cover to hide possible damage (seeing the bridge) [confused]

The bike was previously dropped on the right side. But the covers are carbon fibre with frame pucks. some scratches on the exhaust tubes and carbon fibre chewed under the right puck.

Found the ecu under the seat I think. Looks original to me... should it say "race use" or something on it? http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/284_20070708161736_L.jpg

It should say "for race use only" printed right on the side.Part #32814-02YA.

Ran the part number and it is just a factory ECM. So you just have the Race kit muffler and maybe the air filter.

Lemme,
I'll look to see if I can locate your a race muffler for your 12. I work at a dealer and can locate some parts from time to time.

Last time I did a dealer search, everyone in the country showing a kit on hand, didnt want to give them up. You can find some places online that still have them. They must have bought them from dealers when they started going obsolete.

I really appreciate this buell-ers.
I also found another system that tickles me, as an alternative.
The micron serpent together with the race EMC has something to offer!
Same story though, can’t find a supplier for the micron.
Talked to my dealer (and importer for Portugal), but they are a bit “slow”.
They don’t sell to many Buell’s on this site of the ocean, so they don’t really known the accessory market that well.
Have sent them (the micron manufacturer in the states) an email, so far no reply.
[confused]

The micron serpent together with the race EMC has something to offer!

do the direct link and add an open airbox and you'll be very happy!
try other european countries...i know that france, belgium, netherlands, germany (especially) mostly have the micron in stock.

Have it finaly installed, the micron system + race EMC + filter.
The bike runs sommehow "smoother?", and performs better in the low rpm's and much better in the midium's (3000-4500). There is though a bit of a strange sound when the engine is could. Kind of a scraping noice. Don't know exactely where it commes from, could be the diference of air intake, don't know. The sound commes somewhere from in between the top of the cylinders and under the air filter. Will be checked tomorow at the dealer's.
The sound is a bit as the Ducati (bullier? as before)on low rpm's and not disturbingly loud, but loud enough for cars to hear me and give a bit of space. In the higher rpm's it get's a bit charper. In my opinion it is more disturbing for the driver than for the surrounding area.
Anyway i'm verry satisfied with the result and the kwality of the micron.

Hello Guys,
thanx for your replies!
Unfortunatelly I could not clearly understand xopti webpage. But no prob :)
@Stevenc150:
today my account on buelletinboard has been activated so I was able to download the linked maps. I found 2003 xb9 stock and race also but I have a few questions. are these for xb9s or xb9r or they fit to both? I've ordered a cable but I didn't got it yet so I don't know yet the firmware of my ECM. in other topics I have read that there are different firmwares on ECMs. are these maps (stock/race) fits to all firmwares?
sorry for my stupid questions but I woud like to do my best when the cable will arrive and have chance to tune my bike :)
Have nice day: Margo.

Interested in doing this to my xb9s also.
Already have the Buell race muffler and K&N filter... going for clear plastics.

Anybody know where do get an air box delete kit other than ASB.

Has anyone made there own cable like on Xoptis website

are these for xb9s or xb9r or they fit to both?Makes no difference as long as it's a 9 map and matches your year.

It's safest not to burn EEPROMs, there's a safer way that's just as effective. Familiarize yourself with the layout of ECMSpy and reading up on the manual - you can download off of ECMSpy.com. Then post back up after you've figured out your firmware and we'll go from there.

Hello Stevenc150,
I'm still waiting for my cable but it has already been shipped...so maybe this weekend I can tell you my firmware. Just another question: my clutch is a bit hard for me (I'm a girl)so I found clutchlite on ebay. Does it fit to my bike? Do you suggest clutchlite or you have better solution for my clutch?
Have nice day: Margo.

Does it fit to my bike? Do you suggest clutchlite or you have better solution for my clutch? As long as it's for a Sportster or Buell it should fit fine. It's an easy swap. They come in Soft, X-Soft, and XX-Soft. The Soft gives a noticeable result with the XX-Soft yeilding the easiest pull of all. Which did you buy?

Dear Stevenc150,
I haven't bought it yet -> first of all I wanted to ask advice from you :)
Here is the Clutchlite I found on ebay:

Yes, that's the right model # that he's listed. And that's the XX-Soft so there should be a big difference after you install. Be sure and readjust the clutch setting behind the inspection cover after you put in the new ramp and you should be golden. :D

Hello Stevenc150,
yesterday I've got the cable. I hope today or tomorrow evening I can analyze what kind of ECM I have and then I come back and we can go ahead with race maps :)
Btw the clutchlite has also arrived, this weekend I will adjust my clutch - I'm so excited :)
Have nice day: Margo.

Good deal, post up when you're ready and be sure to study up on the ECMSpy manual you can download off of ECMSpy.com. Let us know how you like the Clutchlite.

Hi @ll,
sorry for late reply :)
So last Sunday I have built clutchlite xx-soft in and adjusted the clutch. I have to tell you: clutchlite is a super thing :) This weekend I will test it longer time and come back with the experiences :)
@Stevenc150:
Finally I could get the firmware of my ECM and sent you a pm.
Have nice evening: Margo.
