My best friend got laid off and said he was selling his 02 X1 white lightening and I hated to see him get rid of it to just anyone, and after he told me how much I couldn't pass it up. It does need a new fork seal though. How hard is it to replace or should I just pay the $350 that the Harley shop wants, to fix it? I am getting the manaul off him too which will help me out.

350? for installing a $15 part ... F that. You can buy the oil and part for under $40 then on the way home stop at Ace hardware and buy a 6 inch piece of PVC pipe to pound the seal in. Hack saw the PVC in half ... sand the edge a bit ... few wacks with a rubber mallet = DONE.
