How many failures has anyone heard about, and about what millage did the bearings go in the XB's? I am currently aghast at the fact that my two and a half year old XB9R with 20,000 miles on it had the front bearings fail while riding. I took it to the local HD dealer and one of the service managers told me that things like this happen on a regular and unpredictable basis. [mad]

get skf bearing or ceramic...although those last ones are very pricey!

in 2004 there was a recall for bearings, but i haven't heard that many having problems after that.

you wash your bike with high pressure?

about once a month, but if they are sealed bearings why would that cause a problem

I change my bearings with every tire change. My bike has 26,000 miles and has had at least 4 different sets of bearings.

just don't spray at them directly...sealed or not, it's not good for the bearings.

skf bearing you can order in almost every hardware store, several here have already changed to those bearings.

try and do a search on bearing and you'll probably find the model number and everything.

I orderd my bearings for the front wheel from Motion Industries, they are an industrial supply company and they carry these bearings on the shelf. If I remember right they were $33.00 a piece. As far as better bearings I went with the SKF bearing because thats what I had at work, but Nachi makes a good bearing also. I dont know of anyone making a ceramic in a standard 6005 bearing, but if there is I would not reccomend these, they are great for high speed, but are very sensetive to shock and may fail as wheel bearings.
