Just wondering if 3k rpms is normal for 60 mph in 5th gear. Have an xb1200r. Just seems a little high. Runs great at that speed just wondering if my sprocket is larger than normal.

Has anyone tried one of the 29 tooth pulleys on the tranny side? I'd like to know how much of a difference it makes. I do a lot of highway riding and I'd like to bring down the revs some.

bye bye torque, but if you do that you will need a new belt too. What speed are you normally at on the highway cause 5th gear lower than 2500 rpm is borderline lugging the engine.

Well I'm usually cruising along at 75-80 so I'm at at least 4k most of the time. Would the extra 2 teeth make that big of a difference?

Hmm hard to tell how much a difference it will make. You will get better gas mileage.
I ride about 75-80 too. 3 to 4 k is pretty normal rpm range for our bikes. I rode three ours on average 80 to 90mph, and my bike handled it great.

If you do the mod. post your average gas millage; I do mostly highway driving too and currently get 50-55 mpg. I would guess that it would decreas your RPM's about 500.

Do a chain conversion. Then you can play with gear ratios all day long. There isn't many options with pulleys.

FreeSpirits makes a pulley kit for speed and one for torque.

Only a 10% increase. so if your top speed is 140. it will increase to 154. With that in mind maybe you could expect a 10% increase in gas mileage. Not worth it in my opinion. Its about 700 us dollars.
