I recently traded in my 94 road king for a XB12R. This is also my first post and I would like to say hello and I have been reading lots of great info in this forum. I'm 44 I've been riding since I was 12 but this is my first sport bike. I almost have it broken in and so far I love the bike. I will be riding daily to work, and I noticed its gets pretty hot in slow traffic. I was wondering if the pan under the seat was slotted or louvered would it let more heat from the rear cylinder escape when the going gets slow?

doesn't help the cooling of the rear cilinder, though.

the only thing you can do is get more airflow to the rear cilinder => rh airscoop.

and welcome...have fun with the bike ;)

Thanks for the info.... I have read in the forum about the rh airscoop and I think I will have to get one and some pants with heavier material in the thigh area.

A RH-scoop will help alot. Being hot is just the nature of the beast, but kinda nice on those 50 degree riding days ahead :) . Think about it though, you're coming off a Road King to a 1200cc air cooled bike that weighs 400lbs !! They had to stick that big motor somewhere :D

Thanks mrdozer2you I do understand I'm sitting on the rear cylinder. I still love the bike alot, It just seems the 2 small holes behind the legs are not enough to let air thru from the fan alone. They most likely work fine when moving. I thought maybe it would let more air from the fan pass the rear cylinder if there were more open area directly behind the rear cylinder. Just a thought

Is there a place in the U.S. to get a fair priced rh scoop?

Can you add spell check?

Hey Mike
If I'm at work getting paid I will use spell check. In the forums I don't and I won't even go back and correct. There is always one person in every forum worried about all the spelling and grammer. Take some advise its really not that important and you will live a happier life if you just get over it. ride on:D
